1
Why do the nations conspirea and the peoples plot1 in vain?
2
The kings2 of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the LORD and against his Anointed3 One.b43
"Let us break their chains,5" they say, "and throw off their fetters."64
The One enthroned7 in heaven laughs;8 the Lord scoffs at them.
5
Then he rebukes them in his anger9 and terrifies them in his wrath,10 saying,
6
"I have installed my Kingc11 on Zion,12 my holy hill.13"
7
I will proclaim the decree of the LORD: He said to me, "You are my Sond;14 today I have become your Father.e158
Ask of me, and I will make the nations16 your inheritance,17 the ends of the earth18 your possession.
9
You will rule them with an iron scepterf;19 you will dash them to pieces20 like pottery.21"
10
Therefore, you kings, be wise;22 be warned, you rulers23 of the earth.
11
Serve the LORD with fear24 and rejoice25 with trembling.2612
Kiss the Son,27 lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath28 can flare up in a moment. Blessed29 are all who take refuge30 in him.
