Psalm 31:3-13 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
3 Since you are my rock and my fortress,1 for the sake of your name2 lead and guide me. 4 Free me from the trap3 that is set for me, for you are my refuge.4 5 Into your hands I commit my spirit;5 redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth.6 6 I hate those who cling to worthless idols;7 I trust in the LORD.8 7 I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction9 and knew the anguish10 of my soul. 8 You have not handed me over11 to the enemy but have set my feet in a spacious place.12 9 Be merciful to me, O LORD, for I am in distress;13 my eyes grow weak with sorrow,14 my soul and my body15 with grief. 10 My life is consumed by anguish16 and my years by groaning;17 my strength fails18 because of my affliction,a19 and my bones grow weak.20 11 Because of all my enemies,21 I am the utter contempt22 of my neighbors;23 I am a dread to my friends-- those who see me on the street flee from me. 12 I am forgotten by them as though I were dead;24 I have become like broken pottery. 13 For I hear the slander25 of many; there is terror on every side;26 they conspire against me27 and plot to take my life.28
