But do not kill them, O Lord our shield,a1 or my people will forget.2 In your might make them wander about, and bring them down.312
For the sins of their mouths,4 for the words of their lips,5 let them be caught in their pride.6 For the curses and lies they utter,
consume them in wrath, consume them till they are no more.7 Then it will be known to the ends of the earth that God rules over Jacob.8 "Selah"
They return at evening, snarling like dogs, and prowl about the city.
They wander about for food9 and howl if not satisfied.
But I will sing10 of your strength,11 in the morning12 I will sing of your love;13 for you are my fortress,14 my refuge in times of trouble.1517
O my Strength, I sing praise to you; you, O God, are my fortress, my loving God.16
