A psalm of Asaph.
1 Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart.1 2 But as for me, my feet had almost slipped;2 I had nearly lost my foothold.3 3 For I envied4 the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.5 4 They have no struggles; their bodies are healthy and strong.a 5 They are free6 from the burdens common to man; they are not plagued by human ills. 6 Therefore pride7 is their necklace;8 they clothe themselves with violence.9 7 From their callous hearts10 comes iniquityb; the evil conceits of their minds know no limits. 8 They scoff, and speak with malice;11 in their arrogance12 they threaten oppression.13Scripture quoted by permission.
