I saw heaven standing open1 and there before me was a white horse, whose rider2 is called Faithful and True.3 With justice he judges and makes war.412
His eyes are like blazing fire,5 and on his head are many crowns.6 He has a name written on him7 that no one knows but he himself.813
He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood,9 and his name is the Word of God.1014
The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen,11 white12 and clean.
Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword13 with which to strike down14 the nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter."a15 He treads the winepress16 of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty.
On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:17 KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.1817
And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds19 flying in midair,20 "Come,21 gather together for the great supper of God,2218
so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and mighty men, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people,23 free and slave,24 small and great."2519
Then I saw the beast26 and the kings of the earth27 and their armies gathered together to make war against the rider on the horse28 and his army.
But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet29 who had performed the miraculous signs30 on his behalf.31 With these signs he had deluded32 those who had received the mark of the beast33 and worshiped his image.34 The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake35 of burning sulfur.3621
The rest of them were killed with the sword37 that came out of the mouth of the rider on the horse,38 and all the birds39 gorged themselves on their flesh.
