He threw him into the Abyss,1 and locked and sealed2 it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations3 anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.
I saw thrones4 on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge.5 And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded6 because of their testimony for Jesus7 and because of the word of God.8 They had not worshiped the beast9 or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands.10 They came to life and reigned11 with Christ a thousand years.
Blessed13 and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death14 has no power over them, but they will be priests15 of God and of Christ and will reign with him16 for a thousand years.
And the devil, who deceived them,26 was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur,27 where the beast28 and the false prophet29 had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.30
And I saw the dead, great and small,33 standing before the throne, and books were opened.34 Another book was opened, which is the book of life.35 The dead were judged36 according to what they had done37 as recorded in the books.
