Isaiah 51:21

Therefore hear now this, thou afflicted
By Babylon, by antichrist and his followers; hear, for thy comfort, the following prophecy: and drunken, but not with wine;
not with wine in a literal sense; nor with the wine of the fornication of the whore of Rome; nor with idolatry, as the kings of the earth are said to be, ( Revelation 17:2 ) ( 18:3 ) but, as the Targum expresses it, with tribulation; with afflictions at the hand of God, and persecutions from men.

19 Queste due cose ti sono avvenute: chi ti compiangerà? desolazione e rovina, fame e spada: Chi ti consolerà?

20 I tuoi figliuoli venivano meno, giacevano a tutti i capi delle strade, come un’antilope nella rete, prostrati dal furore dell’Eterno, dalle minacce del tuo Dio.

21 Perciò, ascolta or questo, o infelice, ed ebbra, ma non di vino!

22 Così parla il tuo Signore, l’Eterno, il tuo Dio, che difende la causa del suo popolo: Ecco, io ti tolgo di mano la coppa di stordimento, il calice, la coppa del mio furore; tu non la berrai più!

23 Io la metterò in mano de’ tuoi persecutori, che dicevano all’anima tua: "Chinati, che ti passiamo addosso!" e tu facevi del tuo dosso un suolo, una strada per i passanti!
