Peace and Joy

1 Therefore, since we have been justified¹ through faith,² we^a have peace³ with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,⁴ 2 through whom we have gained access⁵ by faith into this grace in which we now stand.⁶ And we^b rejoice in the hope⁷ of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we^c also rejoice in our sufferings,⁸ because we know that suffering produces perseverance;⁹ 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope¹⁰ does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love¹¹ into our hearts by the Holy Spirit,¹² whom he has given us. 6 You see, at just the right time,¹³ when we were still powerless,¹⁴ Christ died for the ungodly.¹⁵ 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.
