Ezequiel 35

1 Y vino Palabra del SEÑOR a mí, diciendo:

2 Hijo de hombre, pon tu rostro hacia el monte de Seir, y profetiza contra él,

3 y dile: Así dijo el Señor DIOS: He aquí estoy contra ti, oh monte de Seir, y extenderé mi mano contra ti, y te pondré en asolamiento y en soledad.

4 A tus ciudades asolaré, y tú serás asolado; y sabrás que yo soy el SEÑOR.

5 Por cuanto tuviste enemistades perpetuas, y esparciste los hijos de Israel al poder de la espada en el tiempo de su aflicción, en el tiempo extremadamente malo;

6 por tanto, vivo yo, dijo el Señor DIOS, que a sangre te disputaré, y sangre te perseguirá; y si no aborrecieres la sangre, sangre te perseguirá.

7 Y pondré al monte de Seir en asolamiento y en soledad, y cortaré de él pasante y volviente.

8 Y llenaré sus montes de sus muertos; en tus collados, y en tus valles, y en todos tus arroyos, caerán muertos a cuchillo.

9 Yo te pondré en asolamientos perpetuos, y tus ciudades nunca más se restaurarán; y sabréis que yo soy el SEÑOR.

10 Por cuanto dijiste: Las dos naciones y las dos tierras serán mías, y las poseeremos, estando allí el SEÑOR;

11 por tanto, vivo yo, dijo el Señor DIOS, yo haré conforme a tu ira, y conforme a tu celo con que procediste, a causa de tus enemistades con ellos; y seré conocido en ellos, cuando te juzgare.

12 Y sabrás que yo, el SEÑOR, he oído todas tus injurias que proferiste contra los montes de Israel, diciendo: Destruidos son, nos son dados a devorar.

13 Y os engrandecisteis contra mí con vuestra boca, y multiplicasteis contra mí vuestras palabras. Yo lo oí.

14 Así dijo el Señor DIOS: Así se alegrará toda la tierra, cuando yo te haré soledad.

15 Como te alegraste tú sobre la heredad de la Casa de Israel, porque fue asolada, así te haré a ti: asolado será el Monte de Seir, y toda Idumea, toda ella; y sabrán que yo soy el SEÑOR.

Chapter 35

A prophecy against Edom.

Verses 1-9 All who have God against them, have the word of God against them. Those that have a constant hatred to God and his people, as the carnal mind has, can only expect to be made desolate for ever.

Verses 10-15 When we see the vanity of the world in the disappointments, losses, and crosses, which others meet with, instead of showing ourselves greedy of worldly things, we should sit more loose to them. In the multitude of words, not one is unknown to God; not the most idle word; and the most daring is not above his rebuke. In the destruction of the enemies of the church, God designs his own glory; and we may be sure that he will not come short of his design. And when the fulness of the Jews and Gentiles shall come into the church, all antichristian opposers shall be destroyed.

This chapter is a prophecy of the destruction of Edom, which is threatened, Eze 35:1-4, the cause of it, their hatred and slaughter of the Israelites, Eze 35:5-9, their claim of the lands of Israel and Judah for possession, Eze 35:10,11, their blasphemies against the people of God, and the Lord himself, Eze 35:12,13, the aggravation of their ruin, which was irretrievable; that when it was well with others, it should go ill with them; by way of just retaliation, Eze 35:14,15.
