Jeremiah 14:20

We acknowledge, O Lord, our wickedness, and the iniquity of
our fathers
This is said by the prophet, in the name of the few faithful that were among this people, who were sensible of their own sins, the sins of their ancestors, and which they ingenuously confess; their fathers had sinned, and they had imitated them, and continued in the same, and therefore might justly expect the displeasure of the Lord, and his controversy with them: for we have sinned against thee;
( Jeremiah 14:7 ) .

18 Si salgo al campo, he aquí muertos a cuchillo; y si me entro en la ciudad, he aquí enfermos de hambre; porque también el profeta como el sacerdote anduvieron rodeando en la tierra, y no la conocieron.

19 ¿Por ventura has desechado enteramente a Judá? ¿Por ventura ha aborrecido tu alma a Sion? ¿Por qué nos hiciste herir sin que nos quede cura? Esperamos paz, y no hubo bien; tiempo de cura, y he aquí turbación.

20 Reconocemos, oh SEÑOR, nuestra impiedad, la iniquidad de nuestros padres, porque contra ti hemos pecado.

21 Por amor de tu Nombre no nos deseches, ni trastornes el trono de tu gloria; acuérdate, no invalides tu Pacto con nosotros.

22 ¿Hay por ventura entre las vanidades de los gentiles quien haga llover? ¿Y los cielos por ventura darán lluvias? ¿No eres tú, SEÑOR, nuestro Dios? En ti, pues, esperamos; porque tú hiciste todas estas cosas.
