And God raised us up with Christ1 and seated us with him2 in the heavenly realms3 in Christ Jesus,
in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace,4 expressed in his kindness5 to us in Christ Jesus.
For it is by grace6 you have been saved,7 through faith8--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--
not by works,9 so that no one can boast.1010
For we are God's handiwork,11 created12 in Christ Jesus to do good works,13 which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Therefore, remember that formerly14 you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the circumcision" (which is done in the body by human hands)15--
remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners16 to the covenants of the promise,17 without hope18 and without God in the world.
But now in Christ Jesus you who once19 were far away have been brought near20 by the blood of Christ.2114
For he himself is our peace,22 who has made the two one23 and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,
by setting aside in his flesh24 the law with its commands and regulations.25 His purpose was to create in himself one26 new humanity out of the two, thus making peace,
and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross,27 by which he put to death their hostility.
