The Mountain of the LORD

2:1-4pp -- Mic 4:1-3

1 This is what Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem:1

2 In the last days2 the mountain3 of the LORD's temple will be established as the highest of the mountains;4 it will be exalted5 above the hills, and all nations will stream to it.6
3 Many peoples7 will come and say, "Come, let us go8 up to the mountain9 of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths." The law10 will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.11

4 He will judge12 between the nations and will settle disputes13 for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.14 Nation will not take up sword against nation,15 nor will they train for war anymore.

The Day of the LORD

6 You have abandoned18 your people, the house of Jacob.19 They are full of superstitions from the East; they practice divination20 like the Philistines21 and clasp hands22 with pagans.23

7 Their land is full of silver and gold;24 there is no end to their treasures.25 Their land is full of horses;26 there is no end to their chariots.27

8 Their land is full of idols;28 they bow down29 to the work of their hands,30 to what their fingers31 have made.

9 So people will be brought low32 and everyone humbled33-- do not forgive them.a34
