Isaiah 13:10-20 (Today's New International Version)

View In My Bible
10 The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show their light.1 The rising sun2 will be darkened3 and the moon will not give its light.4 11 I will punish5 the world for its evil, the wicked6 for their sins. I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty7 and will humble8 the pride of the ruthless.9 12 I will make people10 scarcer than pure gold, more rare than the gold of Ophir.11 13 Therefore I will make the heavens tremble;12 and the earth will shake13 from its place at the wrath14 of the LORD Almighty, in the day of his burning anger.15 14 Like a hunted16 gazelle, like sheep without a shepherd,17 they will all return to their own people, they will flee18 to their native land.19 15 Whoever is captured will be thrust through; all who are caught will fall20 by the sword.21 16 Their infants22 will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be looted and their wives ravished.23 17 See, I will stir up24 against them the Medes,25 who do not care for silver and have no delight in gold.26 18 Their bows27 will strike down the young men;28 they will have no mercy29 on infants, nor will they look with compassion on children.30 19 Babylon,31 the jewel of kingdoms,32 the pride and glory33 of the Babylonians,a will be overthrown34 by God like Sodom and Gomorrah.35 20 She will never be inhabited36 or lived in through all generations; there no nomads37 will pitch their tents, there no shepherds will rest their flocks.
