Isaiah 3:7-17 (Today's New International Version)

View In My Bible
7 But in that day1 he will cry out, "I have no remedy.2 I have no food3 or clothing in my house; do not make me the leader of the people."4 8 Jerusalem staggers, Judah is falling;5 their words6 and deeds7 are against the LORD, defying8 his glorious presence. 9 The look on their faces testifies9 against them; they parade their sin like Sodom;10 they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster11 upon themselves. 10 Tell the righteous it will be well12 with them, for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds.13 11 Woe to the wicked!14 Disaster15 is upon them! They will be paid back16 for what their hands have done.17 12 Youths18 oppress my people, women rule over them. My people, your guides lead you astray;19 they turn you from the path. 13 The LORD takes his place in court;20 he rises to judge21 the people. 14 The LORD enters into judgment22 against the elders and leaders of his people: "It is you who have ruined my vineyard; the plunder23 from the poor24 is in your houses. 15 What do you mean by crushing my people25 and grinding26 the faces of the poor?"27 declares the Lord, the LORD Almighty.28 16 The LORD says, "The women of Zion29 are haughty, walking along with outstretched necks,30 flirting with their eyes, tripping along with mincing steps, with ornaments jingling on their ankles. 17 Therefore the Lord will bring sores on the heads of the women of Zion; the LORD will make their scalps bald.31"
