The wild animals1 honor me, the jackals2 and the owls, because I provide water3 in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen,
the people I formed4 for myself5 that they may proclaim my praise.622
"Yet you have not called on me, Jacob, you have not wearied7 yourselves fora me, Israel.823
You have not brought me sheep for burnt offerings,9 nor honored10 me with your sacrifices.11 I have not burdened12 you with grain offerings nor wearied you with demands13 for incense.1424
You have not bought any fragrant calamus15 for me, or lavished on me the fat16 of your sacrifices. But you have burdened me with your sins and wearied17 me with your offenses.1825
