1 Praise the LORD.^a¹ Blessed are those² who fear the LORD,³ who find great delight⁴ in his commands. 2 Their children⁵ will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. 3 Wealth and riches⁶ are in their houses, and their righteousness endures⁷ forever. 4 Even in darkness light dawns⁸ for the upright, for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.⁹ 5 Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,¹⁰ who conduct their affairs with justice. 6 Surely the righteous will never be shaken;¹¹ they will be remembered¹² forever. 7 They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast,¹³ trusting in the LORD.¹⁴ 8 Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear;¹⁵ in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.¹⁶ 9 They have scattered abroad their gifts to the poor,¹⁷ their righteousness endures¹⁸ forever; their horn^b will be lifted¹⁹ high in honor. 10 The wicked will see²⁰ and be vexed, they will gnash their teeth²¹ and waste away;²² the longings of the wicked will come to nothing.²³
