LORD, remember David and all his self-denial.12
He swore an oath to the LORD and made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:23
"I will not enter my house3 or go to my bed,
I will allow no sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids,
till I find a place4 for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob."
We heard it in Ephrathah,5 we came upon it in the fields of Jaar:a67
"Let us go to his dwelling place,7 let us worship at his footstool,8 saying,
'Arise, LORD,9 and come to your resting place, you and the ark of your might.
May your priests be clothed with your righteousness;10 may your faithful people11 sing for joy.' "
For the sake of your servant David, do not reject your anointed one.
The LORD swore an oath to David,12 a sure oath that he will not revoke: "One of your own descendants13 I will place on your throne.
If your sons keep my covenant14 and the statutes I teach them, then their sons will sit on your throne15 for ever and ever."
For the LORD has chosen Zion,16 he has desired it for his dwelling,17 saying,
"This is my resting place for ever and ever;18 here I will sit enthroned,19 for I have desired it.
I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor I will satisfy with food.2016
I will clothe her priests21 with salvation, and her faithful people will ever sing for joy.2217
"Here I will make a hornb grow23 for David and set up a lamp24 for my anointed one.2518
I will clothe his enemies with shame,26 but his head will be adorned with a resplendent crown."27
