For the director of music. Of David."

1 Fools^a say in their hearts, "There is no God."¹ They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good. 2 The LORD looks down from heaven² on the human race to see if there are any who understand,³ any who seek God.⁴ 3 All have turned away,⁵ all have become corrupt;⁶ there is no one who does good,⁷ not even one.⁸ 4 Do all these evildoers know nothing?⁹ They devour my people¹⁰ as though eating bread; they never call on the LORD.¹¹ 5 But there they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous. 6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.¹² 7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!¹³ When the LORD restores¹⁴ his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
