The Seven Bowls of God's Wrath

1 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple1 saying to the seven angels,2 "Go, pour out the seven bowls of God's wrath on the earth."3 2 The first angel went and poured out his bowl on the land,4 and ugly, festering sores5 broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.6 3 The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it turned into blood like that of a dead person, and every living thing in the sea died.7 4 The third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water,8 and they became blood.9 5 Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say: "You are just in these judgments,10 you who are and who were,11 the Holy One,12 because you have so judged;13 6 for they have shed the blood of your people and your prophets,14 and you have given them blood to drink15 as they deserve." 7 And I heard the altar16 respond: "Yes, Lord God Almighty,17 true and just are your judgments."18 8 The fourth angel19 poured out his bowl on the sun,20 and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire.21 9 They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God,22 who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent23 and glorify him.24 10 The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast,25 and its kingdom was plunged into darkness.26 People gnawed their tongues in agony 11 and cursed27 the God of heaven28 because of their pains and their sores,29 but they refused to repent of what they had done.30 12 The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates,31 and its water was dried up to prepare the way32 for the kings from the East.33 13 Then I saw three evila spirits34 that looked like frogs;35 they came out of the mouth of the dragon,36 out of the mouth of the beast37 and out of the mouth of the false prophet.38 14 They are demonic spirits39 that perform signs,40 and they go out to the kings of the whole world,41 to gather them for the battle42 on the great day43 of God Almighty. 15 "Look, I come like a thief !44 Blessed are those who stay awake45 and keep their clothes on, so that they may not go naked and be shamefully exposed."46 16 Then they gathered the kings together47 to the place that in Hebrew48 is called Armageddon.49 17 The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air,50 and out of the temple51 came a loud voice52 from the throne, saying, "It is done!"53 18 Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder54 and a severe earthquake.55 No earthquake like it has ever occurred since the human race has been on earth,56 so tremendous was the quake. 19 The great city57 split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered58 Babylon the Great59 and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath.60 20 Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found.61 21 From the sky huge hailstones,62 each weighing about a hundred pounds,b fell on people. And they cursed God63 on account of the plague of hail,64 because the plague was so terrible.
