Bible Verses about Self Love

What does the Bible say about self love? Sometimes there is a negative connotation to self love because it makes us think of pride and ego. However, God commands us to love others as we love ourselves. How can we love others if we do not first grasp the love of God for us and in return, love ourselves right? We mature in our faith when we fully comprehend God's love for us and in return, share that love with others.

Scripture is filled with verses meant to build our self-esteem and healthy self love. Below are a few of our favorite Bible verses about self love. Here is a short prayer you can use as well as you begin to meditate on these Scriptures: For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well”. (Psalm 139:13-14)
