Luke 24:3

3 And they went in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

Luke 24:3 Meaning and Commentary

Luke 24:3

And they entered in
To the sepulchre, being invited, encouraged, and led on by the angel that sat upon the stone; for the Jews' sepulchres were built large enough for persons to go into; (See Gill on Mark 16:5) and found not the body of the Lord Jesus;
as they expected, having seen him put there, and had observed in what cave in the sepulchre, and in what form he was laid.

Luke 24:3 In-Context

1 But in one day of the week full early they came to the grave, and brought sweet smelling spices, that they had arrayed [bringing sweet spices, which they had made ready].
2 And they found the stone turned away from the grave.
3 And they went in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
4 And it was done, the while [while] they were astonished in thought of this thing, lo! two men stood beside them in shining cloak [+in shining cloth/in shining clothing].
5 And when they dreaded, and bowed their semblance into the earth, they said to them, What seek ye him that liveth with dead men [What seek ye the living with the dead]?
