John Donne

John Donne (1572-1631) was a poet, student, priest, and preacher in London. He lead the Metaphysical poetry movement, and is famed for combining different themes in his poetry as well as his eloquent and complex sermons and theological thought. He was ordained as an Anglican priest in 1615, at the order of James I, and was made Dean of St. Paul’s Cathedral in 1621.
