Levítico 26:1-13

1 "No os haréis ídolos, ni os levantaréis imagen tallada ni pilares sagrados, ni pondréis en vuestra tierra piedra grabada para inclinaros ante ella; porque yo soy el SEÑOR vuestro Dios.

2 "Guardaréis mis días de reposo, y tendréis en reverencia mi santuario; yo soy el SEÑOR.

3 "Si andáis en mis estatutos y guardáis mis mandamientos para ponerlos por obra,

4 yo os daré lluvias en su tiempo, de manera que la tierra dará sus productos, y los árboles del campo darán su fruto.

5 "Ciertamente, vuestra trilla os durará hasta la vendimia, y la vendimia hasta el tiempo de la siembra. Comeréis, pues, vuestro pan hasta que os saciéis y habitaréis seguros en vuestra tierra.

6 "Daré también paz en la tierra, para que durmáis sin que nadie os atemorice. Asimismo eliminaré bestias dañinas de vuestra tierra, y no pasará espada por vuestra tierra.

7 "Y vosotros perseguiréis a vuestros enemigos y caerán a espada delante de vosotros;

8 cinco de vosotros perseguirán a cien, y cien de vosotros perseguirán a diez mil, y vuestros enemigos caerán a espada delante de vosotros.

9 "Me volveré hacia vosotros y os haré fecundos y os multiplicaré y confirmaré mi pacto con vosotros.

10 "Y comeréis las provisiones viejas y sacaréis lo añejo para guardar lo nuevo.

11 "Además, haré mi morada en medio de vosotros, y mi alma no os aborrecerá.

12 "Andaré entre vosotros y seré vuestro Dios, y vosotros seréis mi pueblo.

13 "Yo soy el SEÑOR vuestro Dios, que os saqué de la tierra de Egipto para que no fuerais esclavos de ellos; rompí las varas de vuestro yugo y os hice andar erguidos.

Levítico 26:1-13 Meaning and Commentary

INTRODUCTION TO LEVITICUS 26

In this chapter, after a repetition of some laws against idolatry, and concerning keeping sabbaths, and reverencing the sanctuary of God, Le 26:1,2; in order to encourage the Israelites to keep the various statutes and commandments in this book, and in the preceding, many promises are made of plenty, and peace, and safety from enemies, and of the presence of God with them, Le 26:3-13; and on the contrary, to such as should despise and break his commandments, the most grievous things are threatened, as diseases of body, destruction by their enemies, barrenness and unfruitfulness of land, the sore judgments of wild beasts, famine, sword, and pestilence, Le 26:14-39; and yet after all, when they should confess their sins, and were humbled for them, the Lord promises to remember the covenant he made with their ancestors, and would deal kindly with them, and not cast them away, and utterly destroy them, Le 26:40-46.
