27 There came to him 1some Sadducees, 2those who deny that there is a resurrection,

and they asked him a question, saying, "Teacher, Moses wrote for us 3that if a man's brother dies, having a wife but no children, the man[a] must take the widow and raise up offspring for his brother.

Now there were seven brothers. The first took a wife, and died without children.

In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife will the woman be? For the seven had her as wife."

And Jesus said to them, 4"The sons of this age 5marry and 6are given in marriage,
35
but those who are 7considered worthy to attain to 8that age and to the resurrection from the dead 9neither marry 10nor are given in marriage,
36
for 11they cannot die anymore, because they are 12equal to angels and 13are 14sons of God, being 15sons[b] of the resurrection.
37
But that the dead are raised, 16even Moses showed, in 17the passage about the bush, where he calls 18the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.
38
Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living, for all 19live to him."

Then some of the scribes 20answered, "Teacher, you have spoken well."

For 21they no longer dared to ask him any question.

For David himself says in the Book of Psalms,25"'The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand,
