Thus Joshuatookall that land: the hillcountry and all the Negev, all that land of Goshen, the lowland, the Arabah, the hillcountry of Israel and its lowland

from MountHalak, that rises toward Seir, even as far as Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon at the foot of MountHermon. And he capturedall their kings and struck them down and put them to death.

For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, to meetIsrael in battle in order that he might utterlydestroy them, that they might receivenomercy, but that he might destroy them, just as the LORD had commandedMoses.

Then Joshuacame at that time and cutoff the Anakim from the hillcountry, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab and from all the hillcountry of Judah and from all the hillcountry of Israel. Joshuautterlydestroyed them with their cities.

So Joshuatook the wholeland, according to all that the LORD had spoken to Moses, and Joshuagave it for an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. Thus the landhadrest from war.
