Jeremías 44:24-30

24 Y dijo Jeremías a todo el pueblo, y a todas las mujeres: Oíd palabra del SEÑOR, todos los de Judá que estáis en tierra de Egipto

25 Así habló el SEÑOR de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel, diciendo: Vosotros y vuestras mujeres proferisteis con vuestra boca, y con vuestras manos lo ejecutasteis, diciendo: Cumpliremos efectivamente nuestros votos que hicimos, de ofrecer sahumerios a la reina del cielo y de derramarle libaciones; confirmáis a la verdad vuestros votos, y ponéis vuestros votos por obra

26 Por tanto, oíd palabra del SEÑOR, todo Judá que habitáis en tierra de Egipto: He aquí que yo juré por mi grande Nombre, dijo el SEÑOR, que mi Nombre no será más invocado de ningún varón judío, que diga: Vive el Señor DIOS, en toda la tierra de Egipto

27 He aquí que yo velo sobre ellos para mal, y no para bien; y todos los varones de Judá que están en tierra de Egipto, serán consumidos a espada y a hambre, hasta que sean consumidos

28 Y los que escaparen de la espada, volverán de tierra de Egipto a tierra de Judá, pocos hombres; para que sepa todo el remanente de Judá, que han entrado en Egipto para morar allí, la palabra de quién ha de permanecer, si la mía, o la suya

29 Y esto tendréis por señal, dice el SEÑOR, de que en este lugar os visito, para que sepáis que de cierto permanecerán mis palabras para mal sobre vosotros

30 Así dijo el SEÑOR: He aquí que yo entrego al Faraón Hofra rey de Egipto en mano de sus enemigos, y en mano de los que buscan su alma, como entregué a Sedequías rey de Judá en mano de Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, su enemigo, y que buscaba su alma

INTRODUCTION TO JEREMIAH 44

This chapter contains a sermon of Jeremiah's to the Jews in Egypt, reproving them for their idolatry there; their answer to it, expressing their resolution to continue in their idolatrous practices; and a denunciation of judgments upon them, of which a sign is given. The sermon begins with observing to them the destruction of Jerusalem, and the causes of it, idolatry and contempt of the prophets, Jer 44:1-6; then follows an expostulation with the present Jews for doing the same things, and exposing themselves and their posterity to the same punishment, Jer 44:7-10; upon which they are threatened with the sore judgments of God that should come upon them, and cut them off in general, Jer 44:11-14; yet such were the impudence and obstinacy of this people, that they declared they would not hearken to the prophet, but persist in their idolatry; it having been better with them when they practised it than when they left it, Jer 44:15-19; to which the prophet replies by observing, that for the idolatry of their fathers their land was become a desolation and a curse, as at this day, Jer 44:20-23; and assures them that destruction would come from the Lord upon them, which he had swore to, Jer 44:24-28; and a sign of it is given; the delivery of the king of Egypt into the hand of the king of Babylon, Jer 44:29,30.
