Daniel 2:32-43

32 La cabeza de la estatua era de oro fino. El pecho y los brazos eran de plata, el vientre y los muslos de bronce,

33 las piernas eran de hierro y los pies eran una mezcla de hierro y barro cocido.

34 Mientras usted observaba, una roca de una montaña fue cortada, pero no por manos humanas. La roca golpeó los pies de hierro y barro, y los hizo pedazos.

35 La estatua quedó reducida a pequeños trozos de hierro, barro, bronce, plata y oro. Luego el viento se los llevó sin dejar rastro alguno, como la paja cuando se trilla el grano. Sin embargo, la roca que derrumbó la estatua se convirtió en una gran montaña que cubrió toda la tierra.

36 »Ese fue el sueño. Ahora explicaremos al rey el significado.

37 Su Majestad, usted es supremo entre los reyes. El Dios del cielo le ha dado soberanía, poder, fuerza y honra.

38 Dios lo ha puesto como gobernante sobre todo el mundo habitado y le ha dado dominio aun sobre las aves y los animales salvajes. Usted es la cabeza de oro.

39 »Ahora bien, después de que termine su reino, surgirá otro reino, inferior al suyo, y ocupará su lugar. Cuando este caiga, un tercer reino, representado por el bronce, surgirá para gobernar el mundo.

40 Después vendrá un cuarto reino, tan fuerte como el hierro. Ese reino destrozará y aplastará a todos los imperios anteriores, así como el hierro destroza y aplasta todo lo que golpea.

41 Los pies y los dedos que usted vio eran una combinación de hierro y barro cocido, lo cual demuestra que ese reino se dividirá. Por ser barro mezclado con hierro, tendrá algo de la fuerza del hierro.

42 No obstante, si bien algunas de sus partes serán tan fuertes como el hierro, otras serán tan débiles como el barro.

43 Esta mezcla de hierro con barro también demuestra que esos reinos procurarán fortalecerse al hacer alianzas matrimoniales; pero no se mantendrán unidos, así como el hierro y el barro no se mezclan.

INTRODUCTION TO DANIAL 2

The subject of this chapter is a dream which Nebuchadnezzar had dreamed, but had forgot; upon which he calls his magicians and astrologers together, to tell him it, and the interpretation of it; threatening them with death if they did not, and promising them great rewards and honour if they did, Da 2:1-6, they urge the unreasonableness of the demand, and the impossibility of the thing; which so highly incensed the king, that he ordered their immediate destruction, Da 2:7-13, Daniel and his companions being in danger, he goes in to the king, and desires time, and he would show him what he had dreamed; which being granted, he spent it in prayer to God, Da 2:14-18, and the thing being revealed to him, he gave thanks to God, Da 2:19-23, and being introduced to the king, he both told him his dream, and the interpretation of it; which concerned the four monarchies of the world, and the everlasting kingdom of the Messiah, Da 2:24-45, upon which he was highly honoured, and greatly promoted by the king, Da 2:46-49.
