Salmos 87:2-7

2 Él ama a la ciudad de Jerusalén
más que a cualquier otra de Israel.

3 Oh ciudad de Dios,
¡qué cosas gloriosas se dicen de ti!

4 Incluiré a Egipto
y a Babilonia entre los que me conocen,
también a Filistea y a Tiro, e incluso a la distante Etiopía.
¡Ahora todas son ciudadanas de Jerusalén!

5 Con respecto a Jerusalén
se dirá:
«Allí todos disfrutan de los derechos de ciudadanía».
Y el Altísimo en persona bendecirá a esa ciudad.

6 Cuando el Señor
escriba en el registro a las naciones, dirá:
«Ahora todas son ciudadanas de Jerusalén».

7 La gente tocará flautas
y cantará:
«¡La fuente de mi vida brota de Jerusalén!».

INTRODUCTION TO PSALM 87

Whether this psalm was composed by David, in a view of the temple to be built by his son Solomon; or whether by one that returned from the Babylonish captivity, who wrote it for the comfort of those that wept at the laying of the foundation of the second temple; it seems evident that the subject matter of it is the church of God in Gospel times, and especially in the latter day glory: the title in the Syriac version is, ``concerning the redemption of Jerusalem.''
