6 Y oyó Saúl como había aparecido David, y los que <I>estaban</I> con él. Estaba <I>entonces</I> Saúl en Gabaa debajo de un árbol en Ramá, y tenía su lanza en su mano, y todos sus criados estaban en derredor de él.

7 Y dijo Saúl a sus criados que estaban en derredor de él: Oíd ahora, hijos de Jemini: ¿Os dará también a todos vosotros el hijo de Isaí tierras y viñas, y os hará a todos vosotros capitanes de mil y de cien;

8 que todos vosotros habéis conspirado contra mí, y no hay quien me descubra al oído como mi hijo ha hecho alianza con el hijo de Isaí, ni hay alguno de vosotros que se duela de mí, y me descubra cómo mi hijo ha despertado a mi siervo contra mí, para que me aceche, según <I>hace</I> hoy día?

9 Entonces Doeg idumeo, que era señor entre los siervos de Saúl, respondió y dijo: <I>Yo</I> vi al hijo de Isaí que vino a Nob, a Ahimelec hijo de Ahitob;

10 el cual consultó por él al SEÑOR, y le dio provisión, y también le dio el cuchillo de Goliat el filisteo.

11 Y el rey envió por el sacerdote Ahimelec hijo de Ahitob, y por toda la casa de su padre, los sacerdotes que <I>estaban</I> en Nob; y todos vinieron al rey.

12 Y Saúl le dijo: Oye ahora, hijo de Ahitob. Y él dijo: Heme aquí, señor mío.

13 Y le dijo Saúl: ¿Por qué habéis conspirado contra mí, tú y el hijo de Isaí, cuando tú le diste pan y cuchillo, y consultaste por él a Dios, para que se levantase contra mí y me acechase, como <I>lo hace</I> hoy día?

14 Entonces Ahimelec respondió al rey, y dijo: ¿Y quién hay fiel entre todos sus siervos como <I>lo es</I> David, yerno del rey, y que va por tu mandado, y es ilustre en tu casa?

15 ¿He comenzado yo desde hoy a consultar por él a Dios? Lejos sea de mí; no impute el rey cosa <I>alguna</I> a su siervo, ni a toda la casa de mi padre; porque tu siervo ninguna cosa sabe de este negocio, grande ni chica.

16 Y el rey dijo: Sin duda morirás, Ahimelec, tú y toda la casa de tu padre.

17 Entonces dijo el rey a la gente de su guardia que estaba alrededor de él: Cercad y matad <I>a</I> los sacerdotes del SEÑOR; porque también la mano de ellos es también con David, pues sabiendo ellos que huía, no me lo descubrieron. Mas los siervos del rey no quisieron extender sus manos para matar <I>a</I> los sacerdotes del SEÑOR.

18 Entonces el rey dijo a Doeg: Vuelve tú, y arremete contra los sacerdotes. Y revolviéndose Doeg idumeo, arremetió contra los sacerdotes, y mató en aquel día ochenta y cinco varones que vestían efod de lino.

19 Y a Nob, ciudad de los sacerdotes, puso a cuchillo; así <I>a</I> hombres como <I>a</I> mujeres, niños y mamantes, bueyes y asnos y ovejas, <I>todo</I> a cuchillo.

20 Mas uno de los hijos de Ahimelec hijo de Ahitob, que se llamaba Abiatar, escapó, y el cual huyó tras David.

21 Y Abiatar dio las nuevas a David como Saúl había dado muerte <I>a</I> los sacerdotes del SEÑOR.

22 Y dijo David a Abiatar: Yo sabía que estando allí aquel día Doeg <I>el</I> idumeo, él lo había de hacer saber a Saúl. Yo he dado causa <I>ante Saúl</I> contra todas las personas de la casa de tu padre.

23 Quédate conmigo, no temas; quien buscare mi vida, buscará también la tuya; <I>bien</I> que tú estarás conmigo guardado.

6 Now Saul heard that David and his men had been discovered. And Saul was seated, spear in hand, under the tamarisk tree on the hill at Gibeah, with all his officials standing at his side.

7 He said to them, “Listen, men of Benjamin! Will the son of Jesse give all of you fields and vineyards? Will he make all of you commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds?

8 Is that why you have all conspired against me? No one tells me when my son makes a covenant with the son of Jesse. None of you is concerned about me or tells me that my son has incited my servant to lie in wait for me, as he does today.”

9 But Doeg the Edomite, who was standing with Saul’s officials, said, “I saw the son of Jesse come to Ahimelek son of Ahitub at Nob.

10 Ahimelek inquired of the LORD for him; he also gave him provisions and the sword of Goliath the Philistine.”

11 Then the king sent for the priest Ahimelek son of Ahitub and all the men of his family, who were the priests at Nob, and they all came to the king.

12 Saul said, “Listen now, son of Ahitub.” “Yes, my lord,” he answered.

13 Saul said to him, “Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, giving him bread and a sword and inquiring of God for him, so that he has rebelled against me and lies in wait for me, as he does today?”

14 Ahimelek answered the king, “Who of all your servants is as loyal as David, the king’s son-in-law, captain of your bodyguard and highly respected in your household?

15 Was that day the first time I inquired of God for him? Of course not! Let not the king accuse your servant or any of his father’s family, for your servant knows nothing at all about this whole affair.”

16 But the king said, “You will surely die, Ahimelek, you and your whole family.”

17 Then the king ordered the guards at his side: “Turn and kill the priests of the LORD, because they too have sided with David. They knew he was fleeing, yet they did not tell me.” But the king’s officials were unwilling to raise a hand to strike the priests of the LORD.

18 The king then ordered Doeg, “You turn and strike down the priests.” So Doeg the Edomite turned and struck them down. That day he killed eighty-five men who wore the linen ephod.

19 He also put to the sword Nob, the town of the priests, with its men and women, its children and infants, and its cattle, donkeys and sheep.

20 But one son of Ahimelek son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled to join David.

21 He told David that Saul had killed the priests of the LORD.

22 Then David said to Abiathar, “That day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, I knew he would be sure to tell Saul. I am responsible for the death of your whole family.

23 Stay with me; don’t be afraid. The man who wants to kill you is trying to kill me too. You will be safe with me.”
