17 En de koning zeide tot de trawanten, die bij hem stonden: Wendt u, en doodt de priesters des HEEREN, omdat hun hand ook met David is, en omdat zij geweten hebben, dat hij vluchtte, en hebben het voor mijn oren niet geopenbaard. Doch de knechten des konings wilden hun hand niet uitsteken, om op de priesters des HEEREN aan te vallen.

17 Then the king ordered the guards at his side: “Turn and kill the priests of the LORD, because they too have sided with David. They knew he was fleeing, yet they did not tell me.” But the king’s officials were unwilling to raise a hand to strike the priests of the LORD.
