HNV 1 These are the sons of Yisra'el: Re'uven, Shim`on, Levi, and Yehudah, Yissakhar, and Zevulun, NIV 1 These were the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, HNV 2 Dan, Yosef, and Binyamin, Naftali, Gad, and Asher. NIV 2 Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad and Asher. HNV 3 The sons of Yehudah: `Er, and Onan, and Shelach; which three were born to him of Shu`a's daughter the Kana`anite. `Er, Yehudah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD; and he killed him. NIV 3 The sons of Judah: Er, Onan and Shelah. These three were born to him by a Canaanite woman, the daughter of Shua. Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the LORD’s sight; so the LORD put him to death. HNV 4 Tamar his daughter-in-law bore him Peretz and Zerach. All the sons of Yehudah were five. NIV 4 Judah’s daughter-in-law Tamar bore Perez and Zerah to Judah. He had five sons in all. HNV 5 The sons of Peretz: Hetzron, and Hamul. NIV 5 The sons of Perez: Hezron and Hamul. HNV 6 The sons of Zerach: Zimri, and Etan, and Heman, and Kalkol, and Dara; five of them in all. NIV 6 The sons of Zerah: Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Kalkol and Darda —five in all. HNV 7 The sons of Karmi: `Akar, the troubler of Yisra'el, who committed a trespass in the devoted thing. NIV 7 The son of Karmi: Achar, who brought trouble on Israel by violating the ban on taking devoted things. HNV 8 The sons of Etan: `Azaryah. NIV 8 The son of Ethan: Azariah. HNV 9 The sons also of Hetzron, who were born to him: Yerachme'el, and Ram, and Keluvai. NIV 9 The sons born to Hezron were: Jerahmeel, Ram and Caleb. HNV 10 Ram became the father of `Amminadav, and `Amminadav became the father of Nachshon, prince of the children of Yehudah; NIV 10 Ram was the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab the father of Nahshon, the leader of the people of Judah. HNV 11 and Nachshon became the father of Salma, and Salma became the father of Bo`az, NIV 11 Nahshon was the father of Salmon, Salmon the father of Boaz, HNV 12 and Bo`az became the father of `Oved, and `Oved became the father of Yishai; NIV 12 Boaz the father of Obed and Obed the father of Jesse. HNV 13 and Yishai became the father of his firstborn Eli'av, and Avinadav the second, and Shim`a the third, NIV 13 Jesse was the father of Eliab his firstborn; the second son was Abinadab, the third Shimea, HNV 14 Netan'el the fourth, Raddai the fifth, NIV 14 the fourth Nethanel, the fifth Raddai, HNV 15 Otzem the sixth, David the seventh; NIV 15 the sixth Ozem and the seventh David. HNV 16 and their sisters were Tzeru'yah and Avigayil. The sons of Tzeru'yah: Avishai, and Yo'av, and `Asa'el, three. NIV 16 Their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. Zeruiah’s three sons were Abishai, Joab and Asahel. HNV 17 Avigayil bore `Amasa; and the father of `Amasa was Yeter the Yishme`elite. NIV 17 Abigail was the mother of Amasa, whose father was Jether the Ishmaelite. HNV 18 Kalev the son of Hetzron became the father of [children] of `Azuvah [his] wife, and of Yeri`ot; and these were her sons: Yesher, and Shovav, and Ardon. NIV 18 Caleb son of Hezron had children by his wife Azubah (and by Jerioth). These were her sons: Jesher, Shobab and Ardon. HNV 19 `Azuvah died, and Kalev took to him Efrat, who bore him Hur. NIV 19 When Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrath, who bore him Hur. HNV 20 Hur became the father of Uri, and Uri became the father of Betzal'el. NIV 20 Hur was the father of Uri, and Uri the father of Bezalel. HNV 21 Afterward Hetzron went in to the daughter of Makhir the father of Gil`ad, whom he took [as wife] when he was sixty years old; and she bore him Seguv. NIV 21 Later, Hezron, when he was sixty years old, married the daughter of Makir the father of Gilead. He made love to her, and she bore him Segub. HNV 22 Seguv became the father of Ya'ir, who had twenty-three cities in the land of Gil`ad. NIV 22 Segub was the father of Jair, who controlled twenty-three towns in Gilead. HNV 23 Geshur and Aram took the towns of Ya'ir from them, with Kenat, and the villages of it, even sixty cities. All these were the sons of Makhir the father of Gil`ad. NIV 23 (But Geshur and Aram captured Havvoth Jair, as well as Kenath with its surrounding settlements—sixty towns.) All these were descendants of Makir the father of Gilead. HNV 24 After that Hetzron was dead in Kalev-Efratah, then Aviyah Hetzron's wife bore him Ashshur the father of Tekoa. NIV 24 After Hezron died in Caleb Ephrathah, Abijah the wife of Hezron bore him Ashhur the father of Tekoa. HNV 25 The sons of Yerachme'el the firstborn of Hetzron were Ram the firstborn, and Bunah, and Oren, and Otzem, Achiyah. NIV 25 The sons of Jerahmeel the firstborn of Hezron: Ram his firstborn, Bunah, Oren, Ozem and Ahijah. HNV 26 Yerachme'el had another wife, whose name was `Atarah; she was the mother of Onam. NIV 26 Jerahmeel had another wife, whose name was Atarah; she was the mother of Onam. HNV 27 The sons of Ram the firstborn of Yerachme'el were Ma`atz, and Yamin, and `Eker. NIV 27 The sons of Ram the firstborn of Jerahmeel: Maaz, Jamin and Eker. HNV 28 The sons of Onam were Shammai, and Yada. The sons of Shammai: Nadav, and Avishur. NIV 28 The sons of Onam: Shammai and Jada. The sons of Shammai: Nadab and Abishur. HNV 29 The name of the wife of Avishur was Avichayil; and she bore him Achban, and Molid. NIV 29 Abishur’s wife was named Abihail, who bore him Ahban and Molid. HNV 30 The sons of Nadav: Seled, and Appayim; but Seled died without children. NIV 30 The sons of Nadab: Seled and Appaim. Seled died without children. HNV 31 The sons of Appayim: Yish`i. The sons of Yish`i: Sheshan. The sons of Sheshan: Achlai. NIV 31 The son of Appaim: Ishi, who was the father of Sheshan. Sheshan was the father of Ahlai. HNV 32 The sons of Yada the brother of Shammai: Yeter, and Yonatan; and Yeter died without children. NIV 32 The sons of Jada, Shammai’s brother: Jether and Jonathan. Jether died without children. HNV 33 The sons of Yonatan: Pelet, and Zaza. These were the sons of Yerachme'el. NIV 33 The sons of Jonathan: Peleth and Zaza. These were the descendants of Jerahmeel. HNV 34 Now Sheshan had no sons, but daughters. Sheshan had a servant, a Mitzrian, whose name was Yarcha. NIV 34 Sheshan had no sons—only daughters. He had an Egyptian servant named Jarha. HNV 35 Sheshan gave his daughter to Yarcha his servant as wife; and she bore him `Attai. NIV 35 Sheshan gave his daughter in marriage to his servant Jarha, and she bore him Attai. HNV 36 `Attai became the father of Natan, and Natan became the father of Zavad, NIV 36 Attai was the father of Nathan, Nathan the father of Zabad, HNV 37 and Zavad became the father of Eflal, and Eflal became the father of `Oved, NIV 37 Zabad the father of Ephlal, Ephlal the father of Obed, HNV 38 and `Oved became the father of Yehu, and Yehu became the father of `Azaryah, NIV 38 Obed the father of Jehu, Jehu the father of Azariah, HNV 39 and `Azaryah became the father of Heletz, and Heletz became the father of El`asah, NIV 39 Azariah the father of Helez, Helez the father of Eleasah, HNV 40 and El`asah became the father of Sismai, and Sismai became the father of Shallum, NIV 40 Eleasah the father of Sismai, Sismai the father of Shallum, HNV 41 and Shallum became the father of Yekamyah, and Yekamyah became the father of Elishama. NIV 41 Shallum the father of Jekamiah, and Jekamiah the father of Elishama. HNV 42 The sons of Kalev the brother of Yerachme'el were Mesha his firstborn, who was the father of Zif; and the sons of Mareshah the father of Hevron. NIV 42 The sons of Caleb the brother of Jerahmeel: Mesha his firstborn, who was the father of Ziph, and his son Mareshah, who was the father of Hebron. HNV 43 The sons of Hevron: Korach, and Tappuach, and Rekem, and Shema. NIV 43 The sons of Hebron: Korah, Tappuah, Rekem and Shema. HNV 44 Shema became the father of Racham, the father of Yorke`am; and Rekem became the father of Shammai. NIV 44 Shema was the father of Raham, and Raham the father of Jorkeam. Rekem was the father of Shammai. HNV 45 The son of Shammai was Ma`on; and Ma`on was the father of Beit-Tzur. NIV 45 The son of Shammai was Maon, and Maon was the father of Beth Zur. HNV 46 `Efah, Kalev's concubine, bore Haran, and Motzah, and Gazez; and Haran became the father of Gazez. NIV 46 Caleb’s concubine Ephah was the mother of Haran, Moza and Gazez. Haran was the father of Gazez. HNV 47 The sons of Yohdai: Regem, and Yotam, and Geshan, and Pelet, and `Efah, and Sha`af. NIV 47 The sons of Jahdai: Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah and Shaaph. HNV 48 Ma`akhah, Kalev's concubine, bore Shever and Tirchanah. NIV 48 Caleb’s concubine Maakah was the mother of Sheber and Tirhanah. HNV 49 She bore also Sha`af the father of Madmannah, Sheva the father of Makhbena, and the father of Giv'ah; and the daughter of Kalev was `Akhsah. NIV 49 She also gave birth to Shaaph the father of Madmannah and to Sheva the father of Makbenah and Gibea. Caleb’s daughter was Aksah. HNV 50 These were the sons of Kalev, the son of Hur, the firstborn of Efratah: Shoval the father of Kiryat-Ye`arim, NIV 50 These were the descendants of Caleb. The sons of Hur the firstborn of Ephrathah: Shobal the father of Kiriath Jearim, HNV 51 Salma the father of Beit-Lechem, Haref the father of Beit-Gader. NIV 51 Salma the father of Bethlehem, and Hareph the father of Beth Gader. HNV 52 Shoval the father of Kiryat-Ye`arim had sons: Haro'e, half of the Menuchot. NIV 52 The descendants of Shobal the father of Kiriath Jearim were: Haroeh, half the Manahathites, HNV 53 The families of Kiryat-Ye`arim: The Yitri, and the Puti, and the Shumati, and the Mishra`i; of them came the Tzor`ati and the Eshta'uli. NIV 53 and the clans of Kiriath Jearim: the Ithrites, Puthites, Shumathites and Mishraites. From these descended the Zorathites and Eshtaolites. HNV 54 The sons of Salma: Beit-Lechem, and the Netofati, Atrot-Beit-Yo'av, and half of the Manachati, the Tzor`i. NIV 54 The descendants of Salma: Bethlehem, the Netophathites, Atroth Beth Joab, half the Manahathites, the Zorites, HNV 55 The families of Sofrim who lived at Ya`betz: the Tir`atim, the Shim`atim, the Sukhatim. These are the Kinim who came of Hammat, the father of the house of Rechav. NIV 55 and the clans of scribes who lived at Jabez: the Tirathites, Shimeathites and Sucathites. These are the Kenites who came from Hammath, the father of the Rekabites.
