1 John 2:7-11

LEB 7 Dear friends, I am not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the message which you have heard. NIV 7 Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard. LEB 8 Again, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light already is shining. NIV 8 Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining. LEB 9 The one who says [he] is in the light and hates his brother is in the darkness until now. NIV 9 Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness. LEB 10 The one who loves his brother resides in the light, and [there] is no cause for stumbling in him. NIV 10 Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. LEB 11 But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. NIV 11 But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them.
