1 Peter 1:17-23

RSVA 17 And if you invoke as Father him who judges each one impartially according to his deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile. NIV 17 Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear. RSVA 18 You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your fathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, NIV 18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, RSVA 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. NIV 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. RSVA 20 He was destined before the foundation of the world but was made manifest at the end of the times for your sake. NIV 20 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. RSVA 21 Through him you have confidence in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. NIV 21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God. RSVA 22 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere love of the brethren, love one another earnestly from the heart. NIV 22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. RSVA 23 You have been born anew, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; NIV 23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.
