1 Timothy 2

JUB 1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men, NIV 1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— JUB 2 for kings, and for all that are in authority that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and integrity. NIV 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. JUB 3 For this is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Saviour, NIV 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, JUB 4 who desires that all men be saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth. NIV 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. JUB 5 For there is only one God and likewise only one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, NIV 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, JUB 6 who gave himself in ransom for all, the testimony of which was confirmed at the time, NIV 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time. JUB 7 of which I am ordained a preacher and an apostle (I speak the truth in Christ and do not lie), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity. NIV 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying—and a true and faithful teacher of the Gentiles. JUB 8 I desire, therefore, that the men in every place, pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and strife. NIV 8 Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing. JUB 9 In like manner also that the women adorn themselves in an honest manner, with shyness and modesty, not with ostentatious hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing NIV 9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, JUB 10 but with good works (as becomes women professing godliness). NIV 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. JUB 11 Let the woman learn, becoming silent in all subjection. NIV 11 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. JUB 12 For I do not allow a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over a mature man, but to be at rest. NIV 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. JUB 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. NIV 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. JUB 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived in the rebellion; NIV 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. JUB 15 notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if she continues in faith and charity and sanctification and modesty. NIV 15 But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
