1 Entonces todo el pueblo de Judá tomó a Uzías, el cual era de dieciséis años, y lo pusieron por rey en lugar de Amasías su padre.

Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in place of his father Amaziah.
2 Edificó él a Elot, y la restituyó a Judá después que el rey durmió con sus padres.

He was the one who rebuilt Elath and restored it to Judah after Amaziah rested with his ancestors.
3 De dieciséis años era Uzías cuando comenzó a reinar, y cincuenta y dos años reinó en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre <I>fue</I> Jecolías, de Jerusalén.

Uzziah was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-two years. His mother’s name was Jekoliah; she was from Jerusalem.
4 E hizo lo recto en los ojos del SEÑOR, conforme a todas las cosas que había hecho Amasías su padre.

He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father Amaziah had done.
5 Y persistió en buscar a Dios en los días de Zacarías, entendido en visiones de Dios; y en estos días que él buscó al SEÑOR, Dios le prosperó.

He sought God during the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God. As long as he sought the LORD, God gave him success.
6 Porque salió, y peleó contra los filisteos, y rompió el muro de Gat, y el muro de Jabnia, y el muro de Asdod; y edificó en Asdod, y en Palestina ciudades.

He went to war against the Philistines and broke down the walls of Gath, Jabneh and Ashdod. He then rebuilt towns near Ashdod and elsewhere among the Philistines.
7 Y Dios le dio ayuda contra los filisteos, y contra los árabes que habitaban en Gur-baal, y contra los Meunim.

God helped him against the Philistines and against the Arabs who lived in Gur Baal and against the Meunites.
8 Y dieron los amonitas presentes a Uzías, y su nombre fue divulgado hasta la entrada de Egipto; porque fue altamente poderoso.

The Ammonites brought tribute to Uzziah, and his fame spread as far as the border of Egypt, because he had become very powerful.
9 Edificó también Uzías torres en Jerusalén, junto a la puerta del ángulo, y junto a la puerta del valle, y junto a las esquinas; y las fortificó.

Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the Corner Gate, at the Valley Gate and at the angle of the wall, and he fortified them.
10 <I>Asimismo</I> edificó torres en el desierto, y abrió muchas cisternas; porque tuvo muchos ganados, así en los valles como en las vegas; y viñas, y labranzas, así en los montes como en los llanos fértiles; porque era amigo de la agricultura.

He also built towers in the wilderness and dug many cisterns, because he had much livestock in the foothills and in the plain. He had people working his fields and vineyards in the hills and in the fertile lands, for he loved the soil.
11 Tuvo también Uzías escuadrones de guerreros, los cuales salían a la guerra en ejército, según que estaban por lista <I>hecha</I> por mano de Jehiel escriba y de Maasías gobernador, y por mano de Hananías, <I>uno</I> de los príncipes del rey.

Uzziah had a well-trained army, ready to go out by divisions according to their numbers as mustered by Jeiel the secretary and Maaseiah the officer under the direction of Hananiah, one of the royal officials.
12 Todo el número de los príncipes de las familias, y de los valientes de gran valor, <I>era</I> dos mil seiscientos.

The total number of family leaders over the fighting men was 2,600.
13 Y bajo la mano de éstos estaba el ejército de guerra, de trescientos siete mil quinientos guerreros poderosos y fuertes para ayudar al rey contra los enemigos.

Under their command was an army of 307,500 men trained for war, a powerful force to support the king against his enemies.
14 Y les aparejó Uzías para todo el ejército, escudos, lanzas, almetes, coseletes, arcos, y hondas de <I>tirar</I> piedras.

Uzziah provided shields, spears, helmets, coats of armor, bows and slingstones for the entire army.
15 E hizo en Jerusalén máquinas <I>por</I> industria de ingenieros, <I>para</I> que estuviesen en las torres y en los baluartes, para arrojar saetas y grandes piedras, y su fama se extendió lejos, porque se ayudó maravillosamente, hasta hacerse fuerte.

In Jerusalem he made devices invented for use on the towers and on the corner defenses so that soldiers could shoot arrows and hurl large stones from the walls. His fame spread far and wide, for he was greatly helped until he became powerful.
16 Mas cuando fue fortificado, su corazón se enalteció hasta corromperse; porque se rebeló contra el SEÑOR su Dios, entrando en el templo del SEÑOR para quemar incienso en el altar del incienso.

But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. He was unfaithful to the LORD his God, and entered the temple of the LORD to burn incense on the altar of incense.
17 Y entró tras él el sacerdote Azarías, y con él ochenta sacerdotes del SEÑOR, de los valientes.

Azariah the priest with eighty other courageous priests of the LORD followed him in.
18 Y se pusieron contra el rey Uzías, y le dijeron: No <I>te corresponde</I> a ti, oh Uzías, el quemar incienso al SEÑOR, sino a los sacerdotes hijos de Aarón, que son consagrados para quemarlo; sal del santuario, por que <I> te</I> has rebelado, y no te será para gloria delante del SEÑOR Dios.

They confronted King Uzziah and said, “It is not right for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the LORD. That is for the priests, the descendants of Aaron, who have been consecrated to burn incense. Leave the sanctuary, for you have been unfaithful; and you will not be honored by the LORD God.”
19 Y se airó Uzías, que tenía el incienso en la mano para quemarlo; y en esta su ira contra los sacerdotes, la lepra le salió en la frente delante de los sacerdotes en la Casa del SEÑOR, junto al altar del incienso.

Uzziah, who had a censer in his hand ready to burn incense, became angry. While he was raging at the priests in their presence before the incense altar in the LORD’s temple, leprosy broke out on his forehead.
20 Y le miró Azarías el sumo sacerdote, y todos los sacerdotes, y he aquí la lepra <I>estaba</I> en su frente; y le hicieron salir aprisa de aquel lugar; y él también se dio prisa a salir, porque el SEÑOR lo había herido.

When Azariah the chief priest and all the other priests looked at him, they saw that he had leprosy on his forehead, so they hurried him out. Indeed, he himself was eager to leave, because the LORD had afflicted him.
21 Así el rey Uzías fue leproso hasta el día de su muerte, y habitó en <I>una</I> casa apartada, leproso, porque era excomulgado de la Casa del SEÑOR; y Jotam su hijo tuvo cargo de la casa real, gobernando al pueblo de la tierra.

King Uzziah had leprosy until the day he died. He lived in a separate house —leprous, and banned from the temple of the LORD. Jotham his son had charge of the palace and governed the people of the land.
22 Lo demás de los hechos de Uzías, primeros y postreros, lo escribió Isaías profeta, hijo de Amós.

The other events of Uzziah’s reign, from beginning to end, are recorded by the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz.
23 Y durmió Uzías con sus padres, y lo sepultaron con sus padres en el campo de los sepulcros reales; porque dijeron: Leproso es. Y reinó Jotam su hijo en lugar suyo.

Uzziah rested with his ancestors and was buried near them in a cemetery that belonged to the kings, for people said, “He had leprosy.” And Jotham his son succeeded him as king.
