1 Saludos de Pedro<br />Yo, Simón<br /> Pedro, esclavo y apóstol de Jesucristo, les escribo esta carta a ustedes, que gozan de la misma preciosa fe que tenemos. Esta fe les fue concedida debido a la justicia e imparcialidad<br /> de Jesucristo, nuestro Dios y Salvador.

2 Que Dios les dé cada vez más gracia y paz a medida que crecen en el conocimiento de Dios y de Jesús nuestro Señor.

3 Crecer en la fe<br />Mediante su divino poder, Dios nos ha dado todo lo que necesitamos para llevar una vida de rectitud. Todo esto lo recibimos al llegar a conocer a aquel que nos llamó por medio de su maravillosa gloria y excelencia;

4 y debido a su gloria y excelencia, nos ha dado grandes y preciosas promesas. Estas promesas hacen posible que ustedes participen de la naturaleza divina y escapen de la corrupción del mundo, causada por los deseos humanos.

5 En vista de todo esto, esfuércense al máximo por responder a las promesas de Dios complementando su fe con una abundante provisión de excelencia moral; la excelencia moral, con conocimiento;

6 el conocimiento, con control propio; el control propio, con perseverancia; la perseverancia, con sumisión a Dios;

7 la sumisión a Dios, con afecto fraternal, y el afecto fraternal, con amor por todos.

8 Cuanto más crezcan de esta manera, más productivos y útiles serán en el conocimiento de nuestro Señor Jesucristo;

9 pero los que no llegan a desarrollarse de esta forma son cortos de vista o ciegos y olvidan que fueron limpiados de sus pecados pasados.

10 Así que, amados hermanos, esfuércense por comprobar si realmente forman parte de los que Dios ha llamado y elegido. Hagan estas cosas y nunca caerán.

11 Entonces Dios les dará un gran recibimiento en el reino eterno de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo.

12 Prestar atención a las Escrituras<br />Por lo tanto, siempre les recordaré todas estas cosas, aun cuando ya las saben y están firmes en la verdad que se les enseñó.

13 Y es justo que deba seguir recordándoselas mientras viva.

14 Pues nuestro Señor Jesucristo me ha mostrado que pronto tendré que partir de esta vida terrenal,

15 así que me esforzaré por asegurarme de que siempre recuerden estas cosas después de que me haya ido.

16 Pues no estábamos inventando cuentos ingeniosos cuando les hablamos de la poderosa venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Nosotros vimos su majestuoso esplendor con nuestros propios ojos

17 cuando él recibió honor y gloria de parte de Dios Padre. La voz de la majestuosa gloria de Dios le dijo: «Este es mi Hijo muy amado, quien me da gran gozo»<br />.

18 Nosotros mismos oímos aquella voz del cielo cuando estuvimos con él en el monte santo.

19 Debido a esa experiencia, ahora confiamos aún más en el mensaje que proclamaron los profetas. Ustedes deben prestar mucha atención a lo que ellos escribieron, porque sus palabras son como una lámpara que brilla en un lugar oscuro hasta que el día amanezca y Cristo, la Estrella de la Mañana, brille<br /> en el corazón de ustedes.

20 Sobre todo, tienen que entender que ninguna profecía de la Escritura jamás surgió de la comprensión personal de los profetas

21 ni por iniciativa humana. Al contrario, fue el Espíritu Santo quien impulsó a los profetas y ellos hablaron de parte de Dios.

1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours:

2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;

6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness;

7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.

8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.

10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble,

11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

12 So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have.

13 I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body,

14 because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.

15 And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things.

16 For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

17 He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

18 We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.

19 We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things.

21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
