1 Uzías gobierna en Judá<br />Uzías,<br /> hijo de Amasías, comenzó a gobernar Judá durante el año veintisiete del reinado de Jeroboam II, en Israel.

In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Azariah son of Amaziah king of Judah began to reign.
2 Tenía dieciséis años cuando subió al trono y reinó en Jerusalén cincuenta y dos años. Su madre se llamaba Jecolías y era de Jerusalén.

He was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-two years. His mother’s name was Jekoliah; she was from Jerusalem.
3 El rey hizo lo que era agradable a los ojos del Señor<br />, así como su padre Amasías.

He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father Amaziah had done.
4 Sin embargo, no destruyó los santuarios paganos, y la gente siguió ofreciendo sacrificios y quemando incienso allí.

The high places, however, were not removed; the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there.
5 El Señor<br /> hirió al rey con lepra,<br /> enfermedad que le duró hasta el día de su muerte; y vivió aislado en una casa aparte. Su hijo Jotam quedó encargado del palacio real y él gobernaba a los habitantes del reino.

The LORD afflicted the king with leprosy until the day he died, and he lived in a separate house. Jotham the king’s son had charge of the palace and governed the people of the land.

7 Cuando Uzías murió, lo enterraron con sus antepasados en la Ciudad de David; y su hijo Jotam lo sucedió en el trono.

Azariah rested with his ancestors and was buried near them in the City of David. And Jotham his son succeeded him as king.
8 Zacarías gobierna en Israel<br />Zacarías, hijo de Jeroboam II, comenzó a gobernar Israel durante el año treinta y ocho del reinado de Uzías en Judá, y reinó en Samaria seis meses.

In the thirty-eighth year of Azariah king of Judah, Zechariah son of Jeroboam became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned six months.
9 Zacarías hizo lo malo a los ojos del Señor<br />, igual que sus antepasados. Se negó a apartarse de los pecados que Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, hizo cometer a Israel.

He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, as his predecessors had done. He did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit.
10 Entonces Salum, hijo de Jabes, conspiró contra Zacarías, lo asesinó en público<br /> y ocupó el trono en su lugar.

Shallum son of Jabesh conspired against Zechariah. He attacked him in front of the people, assassinated him and succeeded him as king.

The other events of Zechariah’s reign are written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel.
12 Así se cumplió el mensaje que el Señor<br /> le había dado a Jehú cuando dijo: «Tus descendientes serán reyes de Israel hasta la cuarta generación».

So the word of the LORD spoken to Jehu was fulfilled: “Your descendants will sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation.”
13 Salum gobierna en Israel<br />Salum, hijo de Jabes, comenzó a gobernar Israel durante el año treinta y nueve del reinado de Uzías en Judá, y reinó en Samaria sólo un mes.

Shallum son of Jabesh became king in the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah king of Judah, and he reigned in Samaria one month.
14 Manahem, hijo de Gadi, llegó a Samaria desde Tirsa, lo asesinó, y ocupó el trono en su lugar.

Then Menahem son of Gadi went from Tirzah up to Samaria. He attacked Shallum son of Jabesh in Samaria, assassinated him and succeeded him as king.

16 Manahem gobierna en Israel<br />En esos días, Manahem destruyó la ciudad de Tapúa<br /> y todos sus alrededores hasta Tirsa, porque sus habitantes se negaron a entregar la ciudad. Mató a toda la población y les abrió el vientre a las mujeres embarazadas.

At that time Menahem, starting out from Tirzah, attacked Tiphsah and everyone in the city and its vicinity, because they refused to open their gates. He sacked Tiphsah and ripped open all the pregnant women.
17 Manahem, hijo de Gadi, comenzó a gobernar Israel durante el año treinta y nueve del reinado de Uzías en Judá, y reinó en Samaria diez años.

In the thirty-ninth year of Azariah king of Judah, Menahem son of Gadi became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria ten years.
18 Manahem hizo lo malo a los ojos del Señor<br />. Durante todo su reinado, se negó a apartarse de los pecados que Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, hizo cometer a Israel.

He did evil in the eyes of the LORD. During his entire reign he did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit.
19 Entonces Tiglat-pileser,<br /> rey de Asiria, invadió la nación; pero Manahem le pagó treinta y cuatro mil kilos<br /> de plata con el fin de obtener su apoyo para afianzar su soberanía real.

Then Pul king of Assyria invaded the land, and Menahem gave him a thousand talents of silver to gain his support and strengthen his own hold on the kingdom.
20 Para conseguir el dinero, Manahem extorsionó a los ricos de Israel obligando a que cada uno le pagara cincuenta piezas<br /> de plata al rey de Asiria. Por eso el rey de Asiria dejó de invadir Israel y se retiró del país.

Menahem exacted this money from Israel. Every wealthy person had to contribute fifty shekels of silver to be given to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria withdrew and stayed in the land no longer.

Menahem rested with his ancestors. And Pekahiah his son succeeded him as king.
23 Pekaía gobierna en Israel<br />Pekaía, hijo de Manahem, comenzó a gobernar Israel durante el año cincuenta del reinado de Uzías en Judá y reinó en Samaria dos años.

In the fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah, Pekahiah son of Menahem became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned two years.

Pekahiah did evil in the eyes of the LORD. He did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit.
25 Entonces Peka, hijo de Remalías, comandante del ejército de Pekaía, conspiró contra el rey. Con el apoyo de cincuenta hombres de Galaad, Peka asesinó al rey, y también a Argob y a Arie, en la ciudadela del palacio de Samaria; y Peka ocupó el trono en su lugar.

One of his chief officers, Pekah son of Remaliah, conspired against him. Taking fifty men of Gilead with him, he assassinated Pekahiah, along with Argob and Arieh, in the citadel of the royal palace at Samaria. So Pekah killed Pekahiah and succeeded him as king.

In the fifty-second year of Azariah king of Judah, Pekah son of Remaliah became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned twenty years.
28 Peka hizo lo malo a los ojos del Señor<br />. Se negó a apartarse de los pecados que Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, hizo cometer a Israel.

He did evil in the eyes of the LORD. He did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit.
29 Durante el reinado de Peka, el rey Tiglat-pileser de Asiria volvió a atacar a Israel y tomó las ciudades de Ijón, Abel-bet-maaca, Janoa, Cedes y Hazor. También conquistó las regiones de Galaad, Galilea, y todo el territorio de Neftalí; y a los habitantes los llevó cautivos a Asiria.

In the time of Pekah king of Israel, Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria came and took Ijon, Abel Beth Maakah, Janoah, Kedesh and Hazor. He took Gilead and Galilee, including all the land of Naphtali, and deported the people to Assyria.
30 Entonces Oseas, hijo de Ela, conspiró contra Peka y lo asesinó. Oseas comenzó a gobernar Israel durante el año veinte de Jotam, hijo de Uzías.

Then Hoshea son of Elah conspired against Pekah son of Remaliah. He attacked and assassinated him, and then succeeded him as king in the twentieth year of Jotham son of Uzziah.

In the second year of Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel, Jotham son of Uzziah king of Judah began to reign.
33 Tenía veinticinco años cuando subió al trono y reinó en Jerusalén dieciséis años. Su madre se llamaba Jerusa y era hija de Sadoc.

He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. His mother’s name was Jerusha daughter of Zadok.
34 Jotam hizo lo que era agradable a los ojos del Señor<br />. Hizo todo lo que había hecho su padre Uzías;

He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father Uzziah had done.
35 pero no destruyó los santuarios paganos, y la gente seguía ofreciendo sacrificios y quemando incienso allí. Él reconstruyó la puerta superior del templo del Señor<br />.

The high places, however, were not removed; the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there. Jotham rebuilt the Upper Gate of the temple of the LORD.

37 En esos días, el Señor<br /> comenzó a enviar contra Judá al rey Rezín de Aram y al rey Peka de Israel.

(In those days the LORD began to send Rezin king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah against Judah.)
38 Cuando Jotam murió, lo enterraron con sus antepasados en la Ciudad de David, y su hijo Acaz lo sucedió en el trono.

Jotham rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David, the city of his father. And Ahaz his son succeeded him as king.
