2 Kings 18:1-8

TMB 1 Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign. NIV 1 In the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, Hezekiah son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign. TMB 2 Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Abi, the daughter of Zechariah. NIV 2 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother’s name was Abijah daughter of Zechariah. TMB 3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did. NIV 3 He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father David had done. TMB 4 He removed the high places, and broke the images, and cut down the Asherah poles, and broke in pieces the brazen serpent that Moses had made; for until those days the children of Israel burned incense to it; and he called it Nehushtan. NIV 4 He removed the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles. He broke into pieces the bronze snake Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had been burning incense to it. (It was called Nehushtan. ) TMB 5 He trusted in the LORD God of Israel, so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any who were before him. NIV 5 Hezekiah trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before him or after him. TMB 6 For he cleaved to the LORD and departed not from following Him, but kept His commandments which the LORD commanded Moses. NIV 6 He held fast to the LORD and did not stop following him; he kept the commands the LORD had given Moses. TMB 7 And the LORD was with him, and he prospered whithersoever he went forth; and he rebelled against the king of Assyria and served him not. NIV 7 And the LORD was with him; he was successful in whatever he undertook. He rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him. TMB 8 He smote the Philistines even unto Gaza and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city. NIV 8 From watchtower to fortified city, he defeated the Philistines, as far as Gaza and its territory.
