2 Kings 4:1-7

NAS 1 Now a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, "Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD ; and the creditor has come to take my two children to be his slaves." NIV 1 The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the LORD. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.” NAS 2 Elisha said to her, "What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?" And she said, "Your maidservant has nothing in the house except a jar of oil." NIV 2 Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?” “Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.” NAS 3 Then he said, "Go, borrow vessels at large for yourself from all your neighbors, even empty vessels; do not get a few. NIV 3 Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. NAS 4 "And you shall go in and shut the door behind you and your sons, and pour out into all these vessels, and you shall set aside what is full." NIV 4 Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.” NAS 5 So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons; they were bringing the vessels to her and she poured. NIV 5 She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. NAS 6 When the vessels were full, she said to her son, "Bring me another vessel." And he said to her, "There is not one vessel more." And the oil stopped. NIV 6 When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.” But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing. NAS 7 Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, "Go, sell the oil and pay your debt, and you and your sons can live on the rest." NIV 7 She went and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.”
