2 Thessalonians 2

JUB 1 Now we beseech you, brethren, regarding the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together unto him, NIV 1 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, JUB 2 that ye not be easily shaken in understanding or be troubled neither by spirit nor by word nor by letter as from us, as if the day of Christ is at hand. NIV 2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter—asserting that the day of the Lord has already come. JUB 3 Let no one deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come except there come a falling away first and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition, NIV 3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. JUB 4 opposing and exalting himself against all that is called God, or divinity, so that he as God sits in the temple of God, making himself appear to be God. NIV 4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God. JUB 5 Remember ye not, that when I was yet with you, I told you these things? NIV 5 Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? JUB 6 And ye know what impedes this now, that he might be revealed in his time. NIV 6 And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. JUB 7 For the mystery of iniquity is already working, except that he who dominates now will dominate until he is taken out of the way. NIV 7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. JUB 8 And then shall that Wicked one be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the Spirit of his mouth and remove with the clarity of his coming: NIV 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. JUB 9 that wicked one, who shall come by the working of Satan with great power and signs and lying miracles, NIV 9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, JUB 10 and with all deception of iniquity working in those that perish because they did not receive the charity of the truth, to be saved. NIV 10 and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. JUB 11 Therefore, for this cause, God shall send the operation of error in them, that they should believe the lie; NIV 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie JUB 12 that they all might be condemned who did not believe the truth, but consented to the iniquity. NIV 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness. JUB 13 But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to saving health through the sanctification of the Spirit and faith in the truth, NIV 13 But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. JUB 14 unto which he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. NIV 14 He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. JUB 15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast and retain the doctrine which ye have been taught, whether by word or our epistle. NIV 15 So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter. JUB 16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God, even our Father, who has loved us and has given us eternal consolation and good hope through grace, NIV 16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, JUB 17 comfort your hearts and confirm you in every good word and work. NIV 17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.
