Deuteronomy 26

GNTA 1 "After you have occupied the land that the Lord your God is giving you and have settled there, NIV 1 When you have entered the land the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance and have taken possession of it and settled in it, GNTA 2 each of you must place in a basket the first part of each crop that you harvest and you must take it with you to the one place of worship. NIV 2 take some of the firstfruits of all that you produce from the soil of the land the LORD your God is giving you and put them in a basket. Then go to the place the LORD your God will choose as a dwelling for his Name GNTA 3 Go to the priest in charge at that time and say to him, "I now acknowledge to the Lord my God that I have entered the land that he promised our ancestors to give us.' NIV 3 and say to the priest in office at the time, “I declare today to the LORD your God that I have come to the land the LORD swore to our ancestors to give us.” GNTA 4 "The priest will take the basket from you and place it before the altar of the Lord your God. NIV 4 The priest shall take the basket from your hands and set it down in front of the altar of the LORD your God. GNTA 5 Then, in the Lord's presence you will recite these words: "My ancestor was a wandering Aramean, who took his family to Egypt to live. They were few in number when they went there, but they became a large and powerful nation. NIV 5 Then you shall declare before the LORD your God: “My father was a wandering Aramean, and he went down into Egypt with a few people and lived there and became a great nation, powerful and numerous. GNTA 6 The Egyptians treated us harshly and forced us to work as slaves. NIV 6 But the Egyptians mistreated us and made us suffer, subjecting us to harsh labor. GNTA 7 Then we cried out for help to the Lord, the God of our ancestors. He heard us and saw our suffering, hardship, and misery. NIV 7 Then we cried out to the LORD, the God of our ancestors, and the LORD heard our voice and saw our misery, toil and oppression. GNTA 8 By his great power and strength he rescued us from Egypt. He worked miracles and wonders, and caused terrifying things to happen. NIV 8 So the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with great terror and with signs and wonders. GNTA 9 He brought us here and gave us this rich and fertile land. NIV 9 He brought us to this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey; GNTA 10 So now I bring to the Lord the first part of the harvest that he has given me.' "Then set the basket down in the Lord's presence and worship there. NIV 10 and now I bring the firstfruits of the soil that you, LORD, have given me.” Place the basket before the LORD your God and bow down before him. GNTA 11 Be grateful for the good things that the Lord your God has given you and your family; and let the Levites and the foreigners who live among you join in the celebration. NIV 11 Then you and the Levites and the foreigners residing among you shall rejoice in all the good things the LORD your God has given to you and your household. GNTA 12 "Every third year give the tithe - a tenth of your crops - to the Levites, the foreigners, the orphans, and the widows, so that in every community they will have all they need to eat. When you have done this, NIV 12 When you have finished setting aside a tenth of all your produce in the third year, the year of the tithe, you shall give it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied. GNTA 13 say to the Lord, "None of the sacred tithe is left in my house; I have given it to the Levites, the foreigners, the orphans, and the widows, as you commanded me to do. I have not disobeyed or forgotten any of your commands concerning the tithe. NIV 13 Then say to the LORD your God: “I have removed from my house the sacred portion and have given it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, according to all you commanded. I have not turned aside from your commands nor have I forgotten any of them. GNTA 14 I have not eaten any of it when I was mourning; I have not taken any of it out of my house when I was ritually unclean; and I have not given any of it as an offering for the dead. I have obeyed you, O Lord; I have done everything you commanded concerning the tithe. NIV 14 I have not eaten any of the sacred portion while I was in mourning, nor have I removed any of it while I was unclean, nor have I offered any of it to the dead. I have obeyed the LORD my God; I have done everything you commanded me. GNTA 15 Look down from your holy place in heaven and bless your people Israel; bless also the rich and fertile land that you have given us, as you promised our ancestors.' NIV 15 Look down from heaven, your holy dwelling place, and bless your people Israel and the land you have given us as you promised on oath to our ancestors, a land flowing with milk and honey.” GNTA 16 "Today the Lord your God commands you to obey all his laws; so obey them faithfully with all your heart. NIV 16 The LORD your God commands you this day to follow these decrees and laws; carefully observe them with all your heart and with all your soul. GNTA 17 Today you have acknowledged the Lord as your God; you have promised to obey him, to keep all his laws, and to do all that he commands. NIV 17 You have declared this day that the LORD is your God and that you will walk in obedience to him, that you will keep his decrees, commands and laws—that you will listen to him. GNTA 18 Today the Lord has accepted you as his own people, as he promised you; and he commands you to obey all his laws. NIV 18 And the LORD has declared this day that you are his people, his treasured possession as he promised, and that you are to keep all his commands. GNTA 19 He will make you greater than any other nation that he has created, and you will bring praise and honor to his name. You will be his own people, as he promised." NIV 19 He has declared that he will set you in praise, fame and honor high above all the nations he has made and that you will be a people holy to the LORD your God, as he promised.
