Philippians 3

NRSA 1 Finally, my brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you is not troublesome to me, and for you it is a safeguard. NIV 1 Further, my brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you. NRSA 2 Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of those who mutilate the flesh! NIV 2 Watch out for those dogs, those evildoers, those mutilators of the flesh. NRSA 3 For it is we who are the circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and boast in Christ Jesus and have no confidence in the flesh— NIV 3 For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh— NRSA 4 even though I, too, have reason for confidence in the flesh. If anyone else has reason to be confident in the flesh, I have more: NIV 4 though I myself have reasons for such confidence. If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: NRSA 5 circumcised on the eighth day, a member of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew born of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; NIV 5 circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; NRSA 6 as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law, blameless. NIV 6 as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless. NRSA 7 Yet whatever gains I had, these I have come to regard as loss because of Christ. NIV 7 But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. NRSA 8 More than that, I regard everything as loss because of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things, and I regard them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ NIV 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ NRSA 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but one that comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God based on faith. NIV 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. NRSA 10 I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the sharing of his sufferings by becoming like him in his death, NIV 10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, NRSA 11 if somehow I may attain the resurrection from the dead. NIV 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. NRSA 12 Not that I have already obtained this or have already reached the goal; but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. NIV 12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. NRSA 13 Beloved, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, NIV 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, NRSA 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus. NIV 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. NRSA 15 Let those of us then who are mature be of the same mind; and if you think differently about anything, this too God will reveal to you. NIV 15 All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. NRSA 16 Only let us hold fast to what we have attained. NIV 16 Only let us live up to what we have already attained. NRSA 17 Brothers and sisters, join in imitating me, and observe those who live according to the example you have in us. NIV 17 Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do. NRSA 18 For many live as enemies of the cross of Christ; I have often told you of them, and now I tell you even with tears. NIV 18 For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. NRSA 19 Their end is destruction; their god is the belly; and their glory is in their shame; their minds are set on earthly things. NIV 19 Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. NRSA 20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and it is from there that we are expecting a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. NIV 20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, NRSA 21 He will transform the body of our humiliation that it may be conformed to the body of his glory, by the power that also enables him to make all things subject to himself. NIV 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.
