1 La respuesta suave quita la ira; mas la palabra áspera hace subir el furor.

2 La lengua de los sabios adornará la sabiduría; mas la boca de los locos hablará locura.

3 Los ojos del SEÑOR están en todo lugar, mirando a los malos y a los buenos.

4 La sana lengua <I>es</I> árbol de vida; mas la perversidad en ella <I>es</I> una brecha en el espíritu.

5 El loco menosprecia el castigo de su padre; mas el que guarda la corrección, saldrá cuerdo.

6 En la casa del justo hay gran provisión; pero turbación en los frutos del impío.

7 Los labios de los sabios esparcen sabiduría; mas no así el corazón de los locos.

8 El sacrificio de los impíos <I>es</I> abominación al SEÑOR; mas la oración de los rectos es su gozo.

9 Abominación <I>es</I> al SEÑOR el camino del impío; mas él ama al que sigue justicia.

10 El castigo es molesto al que deja el camino; mas el que aborreciere la corrección, morirá.

11 El infierno y la perdición <I>están</I> delante del SEÑOR; ¡cuánto más los corazones de los hombres!

12 El burlador no ama al que le corrige; ni se allega a los sabios.

13 El corazón alegre hermosea el rostro; mas por el dolor de corazón el espíritu se abate.

14 El corazón entendido busca la sabiduría; mas la boca de los locos pace locura.

15 Todos los días del pobre son trabajosos; mas el <I>de</I> buen corazón <I>tiene</I> un convite continuo.

16 Mejor <I>es</I> lo poco con el temor del SEÑOR, que el gran tesoro donde hay turbación.

17 Mejor <I>es</I> la comida de legumbres donde hay amor, que de buey engordado donde hay odio.

18 El hombre iracundo revolverá contiendas; mas el que tarde se enoja, apaciguará la rencilla.

19 El camino del perezoso <I>es</I> como seto de espinos; mas la vereda de los rectos <I>como una</I> calzada.

20 El hijo sabio alegra al padre; mas el hombre loco menosprecia a su madre.

21 La locura es alegría al falto de entendimiento; mas el hombre entendido enderezará <I>su</I> caminar.

22 Los pensamientos son frustrados donde no hay consejo; mas en la multitud de consejeros se afirman.

23 El hombre se alegra con la respuesta de su boca; y la palabra a su tiempo, ¡cuán buena es!

24 El camino de la vida <I>es</I> cuesta arriba al entendido, para apartarse del infierno abajo.

25 El SEÑOR asolará la casa de los soberbios; mas él afirmará la heredad de la viuda.

26 Abominación son al SEÑOR los pensamientos del malo; mas el hablar de los limpios es limpio.

27 Alborota su casa el codicioso; mas el que aborrece las dádivas vivirá.

28 El corazón del justo piensa para responder; mas la boca de los impíos derrama malas cosas.

29 Lejos está el SEÑOR de los impíos; mas él oye la oración de los justos.

30 La luz de los ojos alegra el corazón; y la buena fama engorda los huesos.

31 La oreja que escucha la corrección de vida, entre los sabios morará.

32 El que tiene en poco el castigo, menosprecia su alma; mas el que escucha la corrección, tiene corazón <I>entendido</I> .

33 El temor del SEÑOR <I>es</I> enseñanza de sabiduría; y delante de la honra <I>está</I> la humildad.

1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

2 The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.

3 The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.

4 The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.

5 A fool spurns a parent’s discipline, but whoever heeds correction shows prudence.

6 The house of the righteous contains great treasure, but the income of the wicked brings ruin.

7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge, but the hearts of fools are not upright.

8 The LORD detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases him.

9 The LORD detests the way of the wicked, but he loves those who pursue righteousness.

10 Stern discipline awaits anyone who leaves the path; the one who hates correction will die.

11 Death and Destruction lie open before the LORD— how much more do human hearts!

12 Mockers resent correction, so they avoid the wise.

13 A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.

14 The discerning heart seeks knowledge, but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly.

15 All the days of the oppressed are wretched, but the cheerful heart has a continual feast.

16 Better a little with the fear of the LORDthan great wealth with turmoil.

17 Better a small serving of vegetables with love than a fattened calf with hatred.

18 A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict, but the one who is patient calms a quarrel.

19 The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns, but the path of the upright is a highway.

20 A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish man despises his mother.

21 Folly brings joy to one who has no sense, but whoever has understanding keeps a straight course.

22 Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.

23 A person finds joy in giving an apt reply— and how good is a timely word!

24 The path of life leads upward for the prudent to keep them from going down to the realm of the dead.

25 The LORD tears down the house of the proud, but he sets the widow’s boundary stones in place.

26 The LORD detests the thoughts of the wicked, but gracious words are pure in his sight.

27 The greedy bring ruin to their households, but the one who hates bribes will live.

28 The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil.

29 The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

30 Light in a messenger’s eyes brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.

31 Whoever heeds life-giving correction will be at home among the wise.

32 Those who disregard discipline despise themselves, but the one who heeds correction gains understanding.

33 Wisdom’s instruction is to fear the LORD, and humility comes before honor.
