HNV 1 <<A Psalm. A Song for the Dedication of the Temple. By David.>> I will extol you, LORD, for you have raised me up, And have not made my foes to rejoice over me. NIV 1 I will exalt you, LORD, for you lifted me out of the depths and did not let my enemies gloat over me. HNV 2 LORD my God, I cried to you, and you have healed me. NIV 2 LORD my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me. HNV 3 LORD, you have brought up my soul from She'ol. You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. NIV 3 You, LORD, brought me up from the realm of the dead; you spared me from going down to the pit. HNV 4 Sing praise to the LORD, you holy ones of his. Give thanks to his holy name. NIV 4 Sing the praises of the LORD, you his faithful people; praise his holy name. HNV 5 For his anger is but for a moment; His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may stay for the night, But joy comes in the morning. NIV 5 For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. HNV 6 As for me, I said in my prosperity, "I shall never be moved." NIV 6 When I felt secure, I said, “I will never be shaken.” HNV 7 You, LORD, when you favored me, made my mountain to stand strong. But when you hid your face, I was troubled. NIV 7 LORD, when you favored me, you made my royal mountain stand firm; but when you hid your face, I was dismayed. HNV 8 I cried to you, LORD. To the LORD I made supplication: NIV 8 To you, LORD, I called; to the Lord I cried for mercy: HNV 9 "What profit is there in my destruction, if I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise you? Shall it declare your truth? NIV 9 “What is gained if I am silenced, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your faithfulness? HNV 10 Hear, LORD, and have mercy on me. LORD, be my helper." NIV 10 Hear, LORD, and be merciful to me; LORD, be my help.” HNV 11 You have turned my mourning into dancing for me. You have removed my sackcloth, and clothed me with gladness, NIV 11 You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, HNV 12 To the end that my heart may sing praise to you, and not be silent. LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever. NIV 12 that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. LORD my God, I will praise you forever.
