WEB 1 <<For the Chief Musician. Set to "The Lilies." A contemplation by the sons of Korah. A wedding song.>> My heart overflows with a noble theme. I recite my verses for the king. My tongue is like the pen of a skillful writer. NIV 1 My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer. WEB 2 You are the most excellent of the sons of men. Grace has anointed your lips, Therefore God has blessed you forever. NIV 2 You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you forever. WEB 3 Gird your sword on your thigh, mighty one, Your splendor and your majesty. NIV 3 Gird your sword on your side, you mighty one; clothe yourself with splendor and majesty. WEB 4 In your majesty ride on victoriously on behalf of truth, humility, and righteousness. Let your right hand display awesome deeds. NIV 4 In your majesty ride forth victoriously in the cause of truth, humility and justice; let your right hand achieve awesome deeds. WEB 5 Your arrows are sharp. The nations fall under you, with arrows in the heart of the king's enemies. NIV 5 Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king’s enemies; let the nations fall beneath your feet. WEB 6 Your throne, God, is forever and ever. A scepter of equity is the scepter of your kingdom. NIV 6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. WEB 7 You have loved righteousness, and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows. NIV 7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy. WEB 8 All your garments smell like myrrh, aloes, and cassia. Out of ivory palaces stringed instruments have made you glad. NIV 8 All your robes are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia; from palaces adorned with ivory the music of the strings makes you glad. WEB 9 Kings' daughters are among your honorable women. At your right hand the queen stands in gold of Ophir. NIV 9 Daughters of kings are among your honored women; at your right hand is the royal bride in gold of Ophir. WEB 10 Listen, daughter, consider, and turn your ear. Forget your own people, and also your father's house. NIV 10 Listen, daughter, and pay careful attention: Forget your people and your father’s house. WEB 11 So will the king desire your beauty, Honor him, for he is your lord. NIV 11 Let the king be enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord. WEB 12 The daughter of Tyre comes with a gift. The rich among the people entreat your favor. NIV 12 The city of Tyre will come with a gift,people of wealth will seek your favor. WEB 13 The princess inside is all glorious. Her clothing is interwoven with gold. NIV 13 All glorious is the princess within her chamber; her gown is interwoven with gold. WEB 14 She shall be led to the king in embroidered work. The virgins, her companions who follow her, shall be brought to you. NIV 14 In embroidered garments she is led to the king; her virgin companions follow her— those brought to be with her. WEB 15 With gladness and rejoicing shall they be led. They shall enter into the king's palace. NIV 15 Led in with joy and gladness, they enter the palace of the king. WEB 16 Your sons will take the place of your fathers. You shall make them princes in all the earth. NIV 16 Your sons will take the place of your fathers; you will make them princes throughout the land. WEB 17 I will make your name to be remembered in all generations. Therefore the peoples shall give you thanks forever and ever. NIV 17 I will perpetuate your memory through all generations; therefore the nations will praise you for ever and ever.
