CJB 13 Ya'akov broke the silence to reply. "Brothers," he said, "hear what I have to say. NIV 13 When they finished, James spoke up. “Brothers,” he said, “listen to me. NIV 19 “It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God. CJB 20 Instead, we should write them a letter telling them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from fornication, from what is strangled and from blood. NIV 20 Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood. CJB 21 For from the earliest times, Moshe has had in every city those who proclaim him, with his words being read in the synagogues every Shabbat." NIV 21 For the law of Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath.”
