Acts 2:1-21

NRS 1 When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. NIV 1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. NRS 2 And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. NIV 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” NRS 12 All were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "What does this mean?" NIV 12 Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?” NRS 13 But others sneered and said, "They are filled with new wine." NIV 13 Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.” NRS 14 But Peter, standing with the eleven, raised his voice and addressed them, "Men of Judea and all who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to what I say. NIV 14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. NRS 15 Indeed, these are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only nine o'clock in the morning. NIV 15 These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! NIV 17 “ ‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. NRS 18 Even upon my slaves, both men and women, in those days I will pour out my Spirit; and they shall prophesy. NIV 18 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. NRS 19 And I will show portents in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and smoky mist. NIV 19 I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. NRS 20 The sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the coming of the Lord's great and glorious day.
