Hebrews 2:11-18

CSB 11 For the One who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one Father. That is why He is not ashamed to call them brothers, NIV 11 Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters. CSB 12 saying: I will proclaim Your name to My brothers; I will sing hymns to You in the congregation. NIV 12 He says, “I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters; in the assembly I will sing your praises.” CSB 13 Again, I will trust in Him. And again, Here I am with the children God gave Me. NIV 13 And again, “I will put my trust in him.”And again he says, “Here am I, and the children God has given me.” CSB 14 Now since the children have flesh and blood in common, He also shared in these, so that through His death He might destroy the one holding the power of death-that is, the Devil- NIV 14 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— CSB 15 and free those who were held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death. NIV 15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. CSB 16 For it is clear that He does not reach out to help angels, but to help Abraham's offspring. NIV 16 For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. CSB 17 Therefore He had to be like His brothers in every way, so that He could become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. NIV 17 For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. CSB 18 For since He Himself was tested and has suffered, He is able to help those who are tested. NIV 18 Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
