1 Mensaje acerca de Egipto<br />Este es el mensaje que recibí acerca de Egipto:<br />¡Miren! El Señor<br /> avanza contra Egipto,<br />montado sobre una nube veloz.<br />Los ídolos de Egipto tiemblan;<br />el corazón de los egipcios se paraliza de miedo.

2 «Yo haré que egipcio pelee contra egipcio:<br />hermano contra hermano,<br />vecino contra vecino,<br />ciudad contra ciudad,<br />provincia contra provincia.

3 Los egipcios se desanimarán,<br />y yo confundiré sus planes.<br />Rogarán a sus ídolos que les den sabiduría<br />e invocarán a los espíritus, a médiums y a los que consultan los espíritus de los muertos.

4 Entregaré a Egipto<br />a un amo duro y cruel;<br />un rey feroz los gobernará»,<br />dice el Señor, el Señor<br /> de los Ejércitos Celestiales.

5 Las aguas del Nilo no subirán para inundar los campos;<br />el lecho del río estará totalmente seco.

6 Los canales del Nilo se secarán<br />y los arroyos de Egipto apestarán<br />por la podredumbre de las cañas y los juncos.

7 Toda la vegetación en las orillas del río<br />y todos los sembrados en sus riberas<br />se secarán y se los llevará el viento.

8 Los pescadores se lamentarán porque no tienen trabajo;<br />se quejarán los que lanzan sus anzuelos al Nilo<br />y los que usan redes se desanimarán.

9 No habrá lino para los cosechadores,<br />ni hilo para los tejedores.

10 Estarán desesperados,<br />y todos los obreros tendrán el corazón angustiado.

11 ¡Qué necios son los funcionarios de Zoán!<br />El mejor consejo que pueden dar al rey de Egipto es absurdo y equivocado.<br />¿Seguirán jactándose de su sabiduría delante del faraón?<br />¿Se atreverán a presumir acerca de sus sabios antepasados?

12 ¿Dónde están tus sabios consejeros, faraón?<br />Que ellos te digan lo que Dios tiene planeado,<br />lo que el Señor<br /> de los Ejércitos Celestiales le hará a Egipto.

13 Los funcionarios de Zoán son unos necios,<br />y los funcionarios de Menfis<br /> son engañados.<br />Los líderes del pueblo<br />hicieron descarriar a Egipto.

14 El Señor<br /> envió sobre ellos un espíritu de necedad,<br />para que todas sus sugerencias sean equivocadas.<br />Ellos hacen que Egipto se tambalee<br />como un borracho en su vómito.

15 No hay nada que Egipto pueda hacer;<br />todos son débiles:<br />la cabeza y la cola;<br />la noble rama de palma y el humilde junco.

16 En aquel día, los egipcios serán tan débiles como las mujeres. Se encogerán de miedo bajo el puño levantado del Señor<br /> de los Ejércitos Celestiales.

17 Tan solo pronunciar el nombre de Israel los aterrorizará, porque el Señor<br /> de los Ejércitos Celestiales ha trazado planes en contra de ellos.

18 En aquel día, cinco de las ciudades de Egipto seguirán al Señor<br /> de los Ejércitos Celestiales, y hasta comenzarán a hablar hebreo, la lengua de Canaán. Una de esas ciudades será Heliópolis, la Ciudad del Sol.

19 En aquel día habrá un altar al Señor<br /> en el corazón de Egipto, y habrá un monumento al Señor<br /> en su frontera.

20 Este servirá de señal y de testimonio de que se adora al Señor<br /> de los Ejércitos Celestiales en la tierra de Egipto. Cuando el pueblo clame al Señor<br /> por ayuda contra quienes lo oprimen, él enviará un salvador que lo rescatará.

21 El Señor<br /> se dará a conocer a los egipcios; así es, conocerán al Señor<br /> y le darán a él sus sacrificios y ofrendas. Harán un voto al Señor<br /> y lo cumplirán.

22 El Señor<br /> herirá a Egipto, y después lo sanará porque los egipcios se volverán al Señor<br />, y él escuchará sus súplicas y los sanará.

23 En aquel día, habrá una carretera que conecte Egipto con Asiria. Los egipcios y los asirios se moverán libremente entre los dos países, y ambos pueblos adorarán a Dios.

24 Además, Israel será su aliado; los tres estarán juntos, e Israel será una bendición para ellos.

25 Pues el Señor<br /> de los Ejércitos Celestiales dirá: «Bendito sea Egipto, mi pueblo; bendita sea Asiria, la tierra que yo hice; bendito sea Israel, mi posesión más preciada».

1 A prophecy against Egypt: See, the LORD rides on a swift cloud and is coming to Egypt. The idols of Egypt tremble before him, and the hearts of the Egyptians melt with fear.

2 “I will stir up Egyptian against Egyptian— brother will fight against brother, neighbor against neighbor, city against city, kingdom against kingdom.

3 The Egyptians will lose heart, and I will bring their plans to nothing; they will consult the idols and the spirits of the dead, the mediums and the spiritists.

4 I will hand the Egyptians over to the power of a cruel master, and a fierce king will rule over them,” declares the Lord, the LORD Almighty.

5 The waters of the river will dry up, and the riverbed will be parched and dry.

6 The canals will stink; the streams of Egypt will dwindle and dry up. The reeds and rushes will wither,

7 also the plants along the Nile, at the mouth of the river. Every sown field along the Nile will become parched, will blow away and be no more.

8 The fishermen will groan and lament, all who cast hooks into the Nile; those who throw nets on the water will pine away.

9 Those who work with combed flax will despair, the weavers of fine linen will lose hope.

10 The workers in cloth will be dejected, and all the wage earners will be sick at heart.

11 The officials of Zoan are nothing but fools; the wise counselors of Pharaoh give senseless advice. How can you say to Pharaoh, “I am one of the wise men, a disciple of the ancient kings”?

12 Where are your wise men now? Let them show you and make known what the LORD Almighty has planned against Egypt.

13 The officials of Zoan have become fools, the leaders of Memphis are deceived; the cornerstones of her peoples have led Egypt astray.

14 The LORD has poured into them a spirit of dizziness; they make Egypt stagger in all that she does, as a drunkard staggers around in his vomit.

15 There is nothing Egypt can do— head or tail, palm branch or reed.

16 In that day the Egyptians will become weaklings. They will shudder with fear at the uplifted hand that the LORD Almighty raises against them.

17 And the land of Judah will bring terror to the Egyptians; everyone to whom Judah is mentioned will be terrified, because of what the LORD Almighty is planning against them.

18 In that day five cities in Egypt will speak the language of Canaan and swear allegiance to the LORD Almighty. One of them will be called the City of the Sun.

19 In that day there will be an altar to the LORD in the heart of Egypt, and a monument to the LORD at its border.

20 It will be a sign and witness to the LORD Almighty in the land of Egypt. When they cry out to the LORD because of their oppressors, he will send them a savior and defender, and he will rescue them.

21 So the LORD will make himself known to the Egyptians, and in that day they will acknowledge the LORD. They will worship with sacrifices and grain offerings; they will make vows to the LORD and keep them.

22 The LORD will strike Egypt with a plague; he will strike them and heal them. They will turn to the LORD, and he will respond to their pleas and heal them.

23 In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together.

24 In that day Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing on the earth.

25 The LORD Almighty will bless them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance.”
