NLT 6 “My care for the people of Judah is like the gently flowing waters of Shiloah, but they have rejected it. They are rejoicing over what will happen to King Rezin and King Pekah. NIV 6 “Because this people has rejected the gently flowing waters of Shiloah and rejoices over Rezin and the son of Remaliah, NLT 7 Therefore, the Lord will overwhelm them with a mighty flood from the Euphrates River —the king of Assyria and all his glory. This flood will overflow all its channels NIV 7 therefore the Lord is about to bring against them the mighty floodwaters of the Euphrates— the king of Assyria with all his pomp. It will overflow all its channels, run over all its banks NLT 8 and sweep into Judah until it is chin deep. It will spread its wings, submerging your land from one end to the other, O Immanuel. NIV 8 and sweep on into Judah, swirling over it, passing through it and reaching up to the neck. Its outspread wings will cover the breadth of your land, Immanuel !” NLT 9 “Huddle together, you nations, and be terrified. Listen, all you distant lands. Prepare for battle, but you will be crushed! Yes, prepare for battle, but you will be crushed! NIV 9 Raise the war cry, you nations, and be shattered! Listen, all you distant lands. Prepare for battle, and be shattered! Prepare for battle, and be shattered! NLT 10 Call your councils of war, but they will be worthless. Develop your strategies, but they will not succeed. For God is with us! ” NIV 10 Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted; propose your plan, but it will not stand, for God is with us. NLT 11 The LORD has given me a strong warning not to think like everyone else does. He said, NIV 11 This is what the LORD says to me with his strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this people: NLT 12 “Don’t call everything a conspiracy, like they do, and don’t live in dread of what frightens them. NIV 12 “Do not call conspiracy everything this people calls a conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. NLT 13 Make the LORD of Heaven’s Armies holy in your life. He is the one you should fear. He is the one who should make you tremble. NIV 13 The LORD Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread. NLT 14 He will keep you safe. But to Israel and Judah he will be a stone that makes people stumble, a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare. NIV 14 He will be a holy place; for both Israel and Judah he will be a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare. NLT 15 Many will stumble and fall, never to rise again. They will be snared and captured.” NIV 15 Many of them will stumble; they will fall and be broken, they will be snared and captured.” NLT 16 Preserve the teaching of God; entrust his instructions to those who follow me. NIV 16 Bind up this testimony of warning and seal up God’s instruction among my disciples. NLT 17 I will wait for the LORD, who has turned away from the descendants of Jacob. I will put my hope in him. NIV 17 I will wait for the LORD, who is hiding his face from the descendants of Jacob. I will put my trust in him. NLT 18 I and the children the LORD has given me serve as signs and warnings to Israel from the LORD of Heaven’s Armies who dwells in his Temple on Mount Zion. NIV 18 Here am I, and the children the LORD has given me. We are signs and symbols in Israel from the LORD Almighty, who dwells on Mount Zion.
